Julius Caesar: Battles, Love Life and Death

Julius was born in Subura, Rome, his mother’s name was Aurelia Cotta and his father’s name was the same as Julius’ (Gaius Julius Caesar). They were far from rich and when Julius was 16 his father passed away. Julius was privately educated by Marcus Antonius Gnipho; he studied Roman law and public speaking.

Death

On the 15th of march 44BC Julius Caesar was assassinated at the Curia of Pompey he was Stabbed 23 times by several roman senators with daggers, they were led by Gaius Cassius Longinus, Decimus Junius Brutus and Marcus Junius Brutus, the Reasoning behind his assassination is that Julius had been given the title of dictator and the senators where worried that he was going to declare a tyranny by overthrowing the senate They had also grown worried of the fact they weren't getting a say into the ruling of Rome now that Julius was dictator.

Wars

Julius Caesar during his rule had a total of 15 military conflicts which include ten battles (the battle of Pharsalus, the battle of Gergovia, the battle of Dyrrhachium, the battle of vosges, the battle of llerda, the battle of Zela, the battle of the Nile, battle of the Arar, battle of Bibracte, battle of Phillipi) three wars (The Gallic Wars, the Roman Civil War, the liberators' war) and one invasion (The Invasion of Britain) and one siege (the siege of Alexandria)

The Gallic Wars

The Gallic Wars where fought between the Celts of as they were referred to as by Romans 'the Gauls' and the romans themselves who were commanded by Julius Caesar. It lasted 8 years from 58 BC to 50 BC and was fought in France, during this war Caesar dawned a Blood covered cloak as a sign of Battle that he usually wore during the majority of his military conflicts to show that he fought amongst his men even though I doubt he actually did. The defeat of the Gallic army was led by general Vercingetorix.

The Roman Civil War

The Roman Civil War lasted a total of Four years from 49 BC to 45 BC it was the last political military war of the roman republic before it was reestablished as the Roman Empire by Julius Caesar. It began with a series of military conflicts between Caesar and Pompey and was caused by their alliance falling apart, Caesar won over Pompey's army in Spain in 49 BC and Pompey was finally defeated in 48 BC, after that Cato later committed suicide which lead to the fall of the Roman Republic, Julius Then returned to Rome and was declared dictator and he now had full rule of the now new roman empire.

Love Life

The intention behind the most if not all of Caesar's love affaires where to help to gain power, an example of this his relationship with ruler of Egypt Cleopatra Julius first met Cleopatra when he visited Rome in pursuit of Pompey. But when he got their Pompey had already been executed by the Egyptians. They however did not treat Julius to the same faith as he had a much larger army Caesar saw his chance at an alliance between him and Cleopatra, when the brother and husband of Cleopatra tried to get rid of Julius, Julius decided to kill him instead and to secure Cleopatra's position as ruler he left behind 3 legions Cleopatra also seen Caesar as a way to help he gain more power as he eventually did. This was a great victory for Caesar as he virtually had rule the most powerful nations on earth with Egypt as an ally. Although Cleopatra claimed she loved Caesar it is pretty safe to assume the relationship was one both used as a grasp at power as Cleopatra even married her own younger brother to become ruler of Rome once again although this relationship was most likely more of a power grasp than her relationship with Caesar who she was also married to as in Egypt at the time multiple marriages where commonly accepted socially and by law. Julius and Cleopatra eventually had a child Called Ptolemt Philopatoer Philometor Caesar who Was born in 47 BC After the death of Julius Cleopatra had plans for her son to take his father's place as emperor of Rome as at the time she was the royal successor, Caesarian was sent to Berenice a port of the red sea in north Egypt by his mother after Antony's defeat in his war against Octavian but he was lured by Octavian to Alexandria where he was executed by Octavian in 30 BC at the age of 17.
