Europe, or The Old Continent during the Exploration Era, has been a relatively small home compared to other mainlands. Although taking up only one-fifteenth of the world’s land area, it holds some of the most sophisticated and advanced technology and culture at some point in the history timeline. The Renaissance Movement, for instance, opened new visions of art, literature, politics, etc. far beyond anyone could imagine that can be the mark of the rebirth of new culture made possible by the greatest figures humankind can offer across Europe. With overlapping cultures part of historical influences, the five identified regions today, North, East, South, and Western Europe, traditions can be different for each country within it. The uniqueness of lifestyles and customs are usually depended on geographic differences such as mountain ranges and plains The North can be famous for its coal mines, or fish exports with but a relatively small population, meanwhile, West’s and South’s population surpass the rest, West is special for its advancement of science to social belief. The South can be a great agricultural investment though the natural resources aren’t as abundant as the North. Historical events could possibly modify the already well-established culture of an area within the region, take the Enlightenment Era for instance, birth of curiosity of true freedom had led to the French Revolution which abolished monarchy government system it used to have which later sparked the Napoleonic Era that on one side, put France in mayhem, but also reorganized Europe, or the infamous Black Plague, its devastation cannot be denied, but also a few people who survived changed their perspective of God and religion was hated for a period.

The Northerners have taken advantage of the unique physical landform features and transform the fjords, U-shapes valleys which were carved out by past glaciers, into great ports that are essential for trading across lands than any other region across Europe. Being surrounded by oceans with vast tundras, Northerners are blessed with an excessive amount of fish and lumber for shipbuilding. With bitter and seems-to-be perpetual winters, farming and colonizing isn’t as quite easy as in the South or West, therefore, most prefer resting in a much more moderate climate where civilizations can be established quickly be or humid regions where they promote fertile soils. The remaining who chose to stay work as miners for wealth in petroleum, coal, nickel, natural gas, etc from most notably Denmark and Germany. Events such as the Cold War drastically signify contractions between the East and West Europe. The Berlin wall thwarted East Europe the ability to socialize with the outside world and caused a major technology, health disadvantage, and unable to access recommend nutrition intake. Luckily for the North, the changes to it were mainly beneficial. It is now being among the highest in educational attainment and social welfare state protection alongside Western Europe as well as liberty rights even though a few including Denmark, England, Sweeden, and Norway still prefer the constitutional monarchy network due to the long connection with the lands being ruled by kings and queens for centuries in the past. The Industrial Revolution in the 18th century led by Britain further improved the North in better educations and higher life status than its neighbors. The legendary Romans who once ruled all of Southern Europe with a hierarchical system, plus the division between the wealthy with poor due to urbanization strengthen the values of social classes than any out of the five regions. The Scientific Revolution that originated in Italy developed the country; today, Italy stands as a highly developed nation among Japan, Germany, Norway, etc. It continuingly spread across the continent. The rise and failure of the Greeks and the Romans left behind many customs the Europeans still practice until now, one of them, Roman Catholicism.

The well-established culture of Europe overall is diverse and phenomenal with great minds who help shape and evolve the belief whether it is religious or human rights during eras. Accidents such as the Black Plague was unfortunate, but it opened a new field of medical study that later on saving millions in return. Cultures are vastly different based on the geographic structure of that area, combining with incidents that result in traditions and beliefs. This furthermore helps the area to become definite in contrast to other regions.
