Early Pregnancy: The Health, Social And Financial Effects
Nowadays, to become a young mother represents a series of effects because at the moment a child is born, the mother is also born. Above all, to be a mother is a difficult task, yet to be a teen mother is even more difficult since that produces plenty of sequels which entail social, economic and health damages. It is quite hard not to think about its consequences since society always emphasizes stereotypes. Following, the opportunities for getting a job are few since people consider that a teen mother does not have the sufficient experience to do her best, and they know that a mother must dedicate time to look after her kid. Also, it is important to point out that being a mother in an early age provokes health effects. The principal effects caused by pregnancy at an early age could be listed in social, economic and health categories.
Within society, early pregnancy is subject of discrimination. First, teenage mothers face social effects. Normally, when young girls become pregnant, they have to face an ocean of trouble, and it can be in a familiar environment as well as outside from home. In some cases, many pregnant girls are discriminated against by their classmates at school and by adults in the street. As a result, they frequently decide to drop out of school which means that generally, girls who go through effects by early pregnancy do not pursue higher education. Subsequently, they are despised for having poor thinking. Second, they suffer domestic violence either by their parents or partners too. According to the ¨ violence meter¨, it is proved that girls who get an unplanned pregnancy are the most affected part in society since they are prone to abuse as a form of physical violence. Most of the time, these girls are deserted by their couple, and they try to shelter with another person who makes them suffer too. Correspondingly, teen mothers cannot have a stable relationship since they are pointed out as a hindrance. Third, the opportunities to participate in some activities from the community are fewer. It is just because people opine that to be pregnant at an early age means irresponsibility, so girls cannot be integrated in the labor market. In brief, society generally judges and discriminates young mothers.
Teen mothers tend to face economic problems because of the lack of higher education. In many cases, due to the fact that early pregnancy is a big charge, they have to leave their studies in order to take care of their babies. For young girls with a child to care for, it is difficult to find a job which provides them enough money to survive. In fact, the amount of money needed to raise the baby is too much, and young mothers do not have the available time to work since they must look after their kid. Consequently, the financial issues for these young mothers can be harder if they do not receive any help. Besides, if a young girl receives some help from a relative or a friend, that is not going to be free since they have to pay somehow. Generally, a girl who is sheltered by a friend will be forced to do unwanted actions that will lead to violence. Moreover, girls that are given an inn are detested by the owners of the house, and their babies are mistreated. Apart from that, young girls do not get jobs because they do not have a high level of education. Also, they do not have experience to work. It is confirmed that teenage mothers lack job opportunities. Concisely, because of the absence of academic preparation, young mothers deal with economic issues.
Being a mother at an early age entails physical effects that could damage not only the mother but also the baby. When young women become pregnant at an early age, the risk of dying is high for their baby and for them as they are not physically ready to be mothers yet. Also, teenagers with early pregnancy may suffer psychological as much as physical problems since they think they are useless, as people make them believe. Aside from that, if a girl starts being a mother at an early age, she could suffer illnesses. For instance, hypertension and cancer are a big risk of death when giving birth at an early age. Moreover, if a girl starts being a mother at a very young age, she is exposed to have more than two or three children; as a result, her health could be affected in the future. Furthermore, Eva Salabert (an expert on health) emphasizes that a baby could obtain birth defects when the mother is too young; as a result, the baby could be affected during his whole growing. Thus, becoming a young mother can provoke health problems in the kid and in the mother's life.
To face social, economic, and health effects when being an early mother causes a huge life damage. People have looked at stereotypes that make early mothers be out of social opportunities; besides, they are always criticized by their mistakes and by their irresponsibility. Moreover, young mothers hardly ever find a job since they have to take care of their babies, and they do not have enough experience to work. Subsequently, the main resources to feed a baby are low. Also, the mother could suffer cancer in the future since she gave birth at an early age. In a nutshell, pregnancy in young girls between twelve and nineteen years old unleashes a series of effects such as social, economic, and health issues which they have to face in order to take care of their children with the passage of time.
