Abstract

The Bermuda Triangle is shrouded with mystery, and the fact if it actually exists still lingers today. This essay is dedicated to all the questions that are left unanswered. Is the Bermuda Triangle real? Is it a myth or a real occurrence? Can it be a topic that has information that is fake or unclear? While finding information for this topic, it has come to the attention that many “facts” that are listed in each retelling of this tell are either made up entirely or not researched enough to be considered true. It came to the conclusion that this topic is simply fake, and could not possibly exist. After reading countless articles, it is simply a legend that has been repeated until the “facts” themselves had simply lost meaning.

The Bermuda Triangle: Fact or fiction?

The Bermuda Triangle is a story that has been passed around for many years. Is it even real? Is it a real occurence or just a myth? Can it be that the information for this topic can be unclear or fake? The goal was to find out whether or not an area of ocean between Florida, Puerto Rico, and Bermuda is actually the result of ships and planes disappearing without a trace possible. While conducting research for this topic, it became obvious that this topic did not hold up its facts.

Method

Researching whether the Bermuda Triangle was fact or fiction began by looking for official documents stating whether or not research has been conducted on this topic. It ultimately came up with nothing in the end. The next step was to find as many articles that mentioned this topic, but it was tricky since many articles were from conspiracy theory websites that did not offer other opinions rather than stating that it was real occurrence. So finding article offering both sides to the story was a very slim variety. It became apparent that many “facts” were continuously being repeated in every article that was found. It wasn’t until stumbling upon “The Bermuda Triangle Isn’t Actually a Mystery” that many incidents from 1840 to 1973 were “That most of the writers’ stories were just repeated from other publications without any fact-checking” (Jesse Mitchell, 2019). It became evident that most of the information that I would find would be the same, but with different phrasing.

Research Questions

It is known that was obvious that many of the “facts” that were found were fiction, so the main focus is to possibly answer the questions that were left unanswered.

Question 1: Is the Bermuda Triangle real or fake?

No, it is not real, and there is extensive proof to prove that this topic is just a myth and not an actual fact.

Question 2: Can it be that the information is unclear or fake?

Yes, the information is fake and unclear so it makes this theory fake. It also explains the fact that this topic has been around for a long time, and has never been mentioned in any scientific journals. As stated from “What is Known (and Not Known) About the Bermuda Triangle” it is stated that “The Bermuda Triangle does not appear on any world maps, and the U.S. Board on Geographic Names does not recognize the Bermuda Triangle as an official region of the Atlantic Ocean.” (Bracken, 2019). The article also mentions that, “In 2013 the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) conducted an exhaustive study of maritime shipping lanes and determined that the Bermuda Triangle is not one of the world’s 10 most dangerous bodies of water for shipping.” (Bracken, 2019)

Conclusion

By conducting the research shown above, it is no doubt reasonable to conclude that the Bermuda Triangle is a myth. By finding the research for this topic, it was possible to prove this topic is fake and inaccurate. While most of the information was mostly just conspiracy sites, it was still possible to find information. Even if the information kept repeating itself in every single article. During this research, it was possible to answer each question that was mentioned in this essay. As well as answer, and provide additional information in order to bring this topic to a close.
