Nonhuman charisma refers to the distinctive aspect of non-human being process or entity that defines its discernment by humans and its ensuing assessment. It involves numerous factors bringing forth differing cultural contexts. As such, it takes place within a complex topology that is subject to natural manipulation. According to Jamie Lorimer (2007), there are three aspects of nonhuman charisma in ecology critical and important, including ecological, corporeal and aesthetic. The essay will use the intervention by the 2018 BBC series Dynasties as case study. According to the film crew, Attenborough would have rescued penguins. Critical aspects of understanding the film explicate that nonhuman charisma have commercial, practical and communicational dimensions essential in ecological education and comprehension.

Dynasties is a documentary TV series that captures vulnerable animal species having the common attribute of forming enduring populations, including lion, emperor penguin, chimpanzee and the African Wild dog. In series one, a colony of penguins arrive in Atka Bay, along the coast of Antarctica after several days feeding at sea. Their arrival coincides with the freezing of water and all other animals have left for safety. The animal’s presence aims at raising the next generation of the emperor’s dynasty. However, they had to maintain their chicks alive through the coming winter, one of the cruellest and coldest on earth. Understanding animal’s ecological charisma is critical in understanding the detectability with which human being can tune into animal’s behaviour. Ducarme, Luque and Courchamp (2013) argued that such entails numerous parameters critical in influencing animal’s visibility with regard to shape, colour, size, speed, and movement. The elements help the overall understanding of combinations of attributes that allows differentiation and identification within the creature’s ecological environment. Lorimer (2015) asserted that such differentiation forms critical components of what faces the colony of penguins in keeping their young one’s alive despite the harsh environment. Nonhuman charisma helps in choosing flagship animal grouping in conversation measures rather than undertaking it purely for rational means (Macdonald et al., 2015). Application of charisma knowledge is essential in assisting involvement of symbolic species in restriction and respect through conservation measures, an element evident in the attempt of the colony of penguins along the coast.

Another argument fronted by Lorimer explains that nonhuman charisma plays a major role in regulating the populations of herbivorous thus contributing in conserving the environment within an ecosystem, makes it a strategic umbrella since animals require a healthy and wide food web for survival despite their harsh of an inhabitable environment as faced by the colony of penguins. On the other hand, Ducarme, Luque and Courchamp (2013) claimed that by applying nonhuman charisma which is essential in enhancing natural charisma especially among major predators such as the emperor penguins. The approach serves as an appropriate strategy to conserving and protecting the entire habitat and ecosystem in which an animal species finds itself.

Nonhuman charisma clarifies statistics, results, and programs known for listed endangered animals. Macdonald et al., (2015) claimed that any charismatic animal arouses interest towards raising funds for conservation measures. As such, these programs are based on unscientific grounds aimed at reducing the concerted struggle between successful or wealthy species as well as those deemed poor and cast animals (Lorimer 2015). Such dichotomy can be reached out the entire landscapes with those bearing the greatest biodiversity being considered for conservation campaigns and flagship programs (Lorimer 2007). The collection help in contribution of increased popularity measures especially for idealized species such as the emperor penguins struggling to keep their chicks alive through the winter.

Application and usage of charismatic animals mainly for conservation measures is a general ruling in the effectiveness of alternate single based species often taken as deceptive simplification, particularly for complex ecosystem engagements (Ducarme, Luque and Courchamp 2013). The colony of emperor penguin’s arrival at the Atka Bay is an example in coming to terms with animal’s struggle to go against the odds of a harsh environment. On the other hand, although this is controversial, charismatic animals are strategic in conservation measures as seen in the colony’s struggle to raise the next generation in their emperor’s dynasty. Numerous endangered nonhuman charismatic species such as penguins are keystone types. As such, they demonstrate conservation concerns. Engineered groupings of nonhuman species that represent charismatic types are forgotten in conservation programs.

According to Macdonald et al., (2015) all nonhuman species have an important conservation concern of what nonhuman charismatic entails. Conservationists are willing to undertake with a typical approach in an attempt to understand the survival aspect of the colony of emperor penguins. The requirements involve a detailed analysis focused on conservation marketing. However, one of the questions is that dealing with nonhuman charisma species embodies human characteristics such as the need for survival. Lorimer (2007) argued that with new definitions and representations emerging, nonhuman charisma in animals brings forth an endearing subject to animal lovers who have an in-depth love and liking for animal conservation strategies. Many animals deal with charismatic species but never go beyond the concept of the subject. However, the benefits and advantage to the same are evident.

Studies on benefits of the same are critical for identification of animal-based learning and comprehension. However, two dimensions on the above problem brought forth the perceived philosophies within the confines of animal conservation measures as observed in the colony of penguins. Getting the best out of these concepts require broad-based management approach necessary in deriving the best out of low-risk animal protection and conservation programs (Lorimer, 2007). Nonhuman charisma animals tend to be commercially viable with high returns. Such amounts increased proceeds for commercial investment and other related conservation measures cited as critical in animal management particularly in management of policies and strategies.

Ducarme, Luque and Courchamp (2013) explained other benefits and advantages of nonhuman charisma species stem from economically exploited animals that are best suited for tourists and conservation of natural resources aimed at purging dangerous biodiversity from animal groupings. As such, some of these nonhuman charisma species such as the colony of penguins fit in the national symbols for tourist attraction as well as in management of endangered species (Macdonald et al., 2015). They serve as souvenirs sold to tourists or curious locals who love the animal kingdom. As symbols of unique grouping, nonhuman charisma species diverse in their ability to adapt to the environment and bring the best regarding animal husbandry from a national level for the wellbeing of biodiversity. However, Lorimer (2007) stated that some animals are non-sensitive to their nonhuman charisma aspect with little reference made to benefits accumulated in the ecosystem. Animal conservation strategists consider them as having little zeal on conservation measures. Such cases are embodied by shellfishes and sea stars that have been on the decline for the last decade. Many conservation professionals consider the creatures as diminishing species that might be extinct in the next 100 years. However, the animals are considered to be problematic regarding conservation measures, especially within their water environment.

Frequency and nature of nonhuman relation point to the intersection of species’ ecological properties that is critical in coming to terms with survival tendencies. Nonhuman charismatic creatures form part the natural environment in providing several benefits linked to human relations and knowledge which is under the control of ecological rhythms in understanding the general ecological charisma of animals such as the colony of penguins. Additionally, the concept is evident in formulating foundation of other types of charisma key in understanding the practical nature of animal history and organization of various animal’s ecological aspects. For example, the knowledge is integral in attributing the general attraction between different animals under divergent classification groups such as animal categories in the documentary. Furthermore, the cultural framework that allow co-existence of animals is an important part of reorganizing creature’s place of encounter regarding ecological charisma that draws emphasis on affections, emotions, motivations, and other nonhuman extensive encounters. The aspects mentioned above rank among other factors said to be crucial in formulating differences that occur in organisms at both surface and in-depth level. A fleeting argument is an essential component of the larger picture attributed to a more comprehensive understanding of animal’s awe-full and awe-sameness’ within a given context of the environment. Drawing on the ecological psychology, the penguin survival tactics in the harsh environment along the coast during the winter explains the broad concept of various characteristics in other related aesthetic charisma.
