Analysis Of The Geographical Position And Features Of Egypt
Table of contents
In this essay I going to speak about Egypt's geography, its latitude and longitude coordinates are 26.8206° N, 30.8025° E and Cairo (the capital city) is 30° 2' N, 31° 14' E. It is located in North-East Africa, and it has borders with the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aqaba and Palestine (Israel) which is around 224 miles to its east, Libya which is around 891 Miles is to its west, Sudan which is around 1190 Miles is to its south, and the Mediterranean Sea is to its north. It is in both the eastern and northern hemispheres.
It’s a middle eastern country that connects with the Muslim countries that are in southwest Asia with those in North Africa. Egypt is considered to be one of the oldest country’s and that’s why it has a lot of history in it. As the years pass the more history is being discovered and made and therefore it makes the country a place that a lot of tourists want to visit and will keep on visiting for many years forward for its ancient history.
Place: Physical and Human Characteristics
Egypt before all the building and civilizations Egypt was a dessert, it’s usually always hot and dry with temperature ranging between 120 degrees Fahrenheit at its highest and 105 degrees Fahrenheit as its lowest during the summer and between 65 degrees Fahrenheit at its highest and 50 degrees Fahrenheit as its lowest during the winter. huge percentage of Egypt is covered with sand and it is mostly flat, with some hills on the eastern coast of Egypt.
One of the main natural resources that are in Egypt is its Nile river, it provides the country with food from fish, transportation, and was helpful for growing crops nearby. It aswell has other natural resources like petroleum which is mainly found in the Gulf of Suez and in the Western Desert and metals like copper which was mainly used during the ancient days. Egypt has a population of almost 100 million people and their first language is Arabic and it has two popular religions mainly Islam and secondly Christianity.
Houses in Egypt are all made from bricks and cement unlike the in the united states of America most houses are made of wood, because it snows during the winter but in Egypt it never snows it might have happened once in my 18 years of living there but it wasn’t as strong as snow days here in the united states of America. I have seen some sandstorms its mainly because of its location in the desert, and it also rarely rains maybe once or twice a year. Egypt’s industry consists of mainly its tourism, clothing and textile production and many other things like cement and metal production.
Human/Environment Interaction: Shaping the Landscape
Over the last decade, Egypt’s population has been growing really fast making the country develop really fast to be able to occupy their people they started building new schools and new shopping centers in new areas like 6th of October City, and New Giza. Since Egypt is mostly a dessert it does not have much plant life, but in areas where there is water like the Nile river, you can find some plant life. Other than fishes in the Nile river Egypt also has other domestic animals like buffalo, donkeys, camels, sheep, and goats. Egypt also has a lot of street dogs and cats and that is something that you rarely see here in the unites states of America.
Most of Egypt’s water comes from its Nile river, but over the years people have polluted from agricultural wastes and sewages making the water an issue for the quality of water that the Nile river provides to the people. The air there is getting polluted because of the cars and trucks that release pollution especially the overcrowded areas, and the factories as well as contaminate the air.
Movement: Humans Interacting on the Earth
A lot of people have been immigrating from the overcrowded areas and moving to the new cities that are newly developing, that really helped the overcrowded areas to become less populated and as well helped these new areas to grow fast. New bridges were built to connect all the cities together and since the population has been increasing, cars have as well been increasing making a lot of areas always busy with traffic and public transportation in Egypt is very poorly developed making it not that easy for people to use. The most popular ways of public transportation are taxis and microbus. I believe that because of Egypt’s poor service of public transportation people buy cars and motorcycles making the country even more populated and polluted with all the smoke these vehicles produce. In addition to their lack of following the driving rules, it makes the transportation routes unbearably full of traffic.
Regions: How They Form and Change
I would probably say that there are several different regions, most of them are desserts. The main is firstly there is the overpopulated city’s that has most government buildings like Cairo the capital of Egypt, this region was also known to be the center of the media and cinema entertainment, it helped show the rest of the world Egyptian art, entertainment, and dialect, secondly there are the old fashioned areas that have some ancient history in like Giza for example has the pyramids and some people live in that area, and lastly is the new areas where there is factory’s just like new Giza and 6th of October city. All these regions were one bigger region which is the dessert but over the years it has been developing and growing to be what it has reached today.
