Yoga: A Boon to People on Earth
In today’s busy life, people are suffering with stress and depression. People need medication on a daily basis to cope up with a daily routine but instead of medication, there are different ways to relief stress and depression, Yoga is one of the ways. Yoga is an ancient Indian spiritual discipline which includes breath control, meditation and also includes severe body postures that are known as asana (exercises). Yoga is very known for relaxation of mind and body. There are different types of asana, pranayama and mudra these all are a name of exercises. The proper practice of these exercises can prepare one’s body and mind for spiritual progress and relaxation.
Pranayama is one the main asana (exercise) in Yoga. Pranayama is mainly the regulation of breath, inhale air from one part of nose and exhales from another part is the way pranayama is practiced. Regular practice of this asana can help get rid of death causing disease like cancer, heart attacks, blood pressure, liver problems, and etc. it also helps in mind refreshing. More and more people around the world have started adopting and practicing yoga in their day to day life. Yoga is unless like other medicines it is really affordable. Some people are suffering from insomnia and because of not able to sleep at night properly leads to severe disease. But studies have showed that doing yoga and meditation can help in having a sound sleep. The basic exercise for that is laying back on the bed and take deep breath and exhale. Deep breathing helps is relaxing the mind and helps getting sound sleep. The best time for doing pranayama and other yoga poses is in the early morning because in morning there is fresh air and also it is full of oxygen in the morning. The morning environment is perfect for meditation and yoga. It gives peace to mind while doing yoga, inhaling fresh air and listening to birds chirping in the early morning.
Teenagers these days are suffering from severe problems like peer pressure, career tension, social life, studies and all and with these things they sometimes drag themselves into depression and sometimes depression leads to drug addiction and other sort of bad habits. But if they start adopting yoga and practicing meditation in their daily routine will help them increasing their concentration level and will also help them get rid of any kind of addiction and help them keep focus on their studies. According to Kelly MCGonigal in 'Your Brain on Meditation', 'Research also shows that meditation can help improve your ability to concentrate in two important ways. First, it can make you better at focusing on something specific while ignoring distractions. Second, it can make you more capable of noticing what is happening around you, giving you a fuller perspective on the present moment' (12).
Losing weight is another problem. Losing weight is all about balancing and knowing eating habits. While eating food people who do not do yoga they aren’t able to realize if they are overeating. But on the other side while eating food people who do yoga get the sensation on the first signal of fill up and makes them stop eating. Also doing yoga can maintain our body balance.
Yoga is now universal. However, yoga was first practiced more in India only as the origin of yoga in India, but the Indian prime minister Narendra Modi had declared international yoga day on 21st of June. Yoga is not about any religion, race, or nationality. It is about spreading peace and love among people. So, hoping this might have motivate people to indulge yoga in their regular life not daily, but at least thrice a week.
