Theories Of Marilyn Monroe's Death
According to authorities, America’s Sweetheart committed suicide on Friday, August 5th, 1962 in her home of 12305 Fifth Helena Drive, Los Angeles, CA. Marilyn Monroe AKA Norma Jeane Mortenson was an actress, model, and singer. Yet, more than a half-century later she still has a significant influence in pop culture. Why does a dead girl still mean so much to America? Monroe’s death was ruled a “possible suicide” by the police department which to many other people, and myself to believe that she was murdered. She had multiple reasons to be murdered.
At this time, Marilyn Monroe was rumored to be sleeping with the President, John F. Kennedy. On May 19th, 1962, days before Kennedy's birthday, Monroe sang “Happy Birthday Mr. President”. When she sang this song it was obvious to everyone that this was no ordinary performance. If the way she carried herself during the performance and the little flirting the President did after wasn’t enough to make people sense something was going on between them, then Marilyn’s admission to sleeping with the president should be.
According to Donald Spoto, author of the 1993 book “Marilyn Monroe: The Biography the most credible time for Marilyn and President Kennedy’s affair to take place was at a party they both attended in Palm Springs, California on March 24, 1962. Marilyn's close and trusted friend Ralph Roberts told Spoto that he received a call from Marilyn asking him for massage techniques for someone's back, and he heard a “distinctive Boston accent in the background before Marilyn handed the phone to President Kennedy. Roberts also told Spoto “Marilyn told me that this night in March was the only time her affair with JFK ever took place. Marilyn gave me the impression that it wasn't a major event for either one of them: it happened once, that weekend, and that was that.” Spoto, Donald. Marilyn Monroe. Tammi, 1993.
But what if it wasn't the only time the affair happened? What if Marilyn got too close to President Kennedy, and she was murdered out of fear that she might expose their relationship to the “all American boy”? Not only would this ruin President Kennedy's reputation, but bad news like this could’ve ruined any future elections. It could have ruined his marriage as he was a Catholic and divorce would have been frowned upon. By being the president, it wouldn't have been hard for him to have someone commit murder, falsify police reports, falsify coroner reports, and sweep her death under the rug as suicide, and blame her past “mental health issues” on her “suicide”.
Although many people believe that Marilyn’s death was genuinely a suicide there is not enough sufficient evidence to support this theory. After searching multiple websites and reading many book clippings, I cannot find any evidence that states that she had any type of mental illness. Many people suffer from depression and celebrities aren't immune to this. There is no record of why Marilyn had a psychiatrist, but in my opinion, I believe it was due to depression. Marilyn's mother Gladys Pearl Baker suffered from severe paranoid schizophrenia and spent most of her life institutionalized. Now, just because one has a mentally ill parent does not mean that the child will also be subjected to the same mental illness.
On August 19, 2013, the renowned “US National Library of Medicine National Institute of Health” published their study which analyzed the possibility of children receiving the same mental illness that their parents had. This study conducted 33 studies with 3,863 parents and 3,158 offspring. The results were that parents with SMI (severe mental illness) had a 32% probability of passing their SMI onto their children. If we take this information and compare it to Marilyn Monroe this means that there was a 68% chance that she didn't have SMI like her mother. The fact that the public took her mother's illness, and immediately reflected it on her is disgusting and degrading. But in the 1960s mental illness isn't as understood as it is today. This may attribute to the fact that her death is still labeled a suicide, and hasn't even been looked at as a murder.
Most people associate Marilyn Monroe's death with either the Kennedys or suicide, but what most people don’t know is that it is highly plausible the FBI were the real murderers. When President Herbert Hoover was in office, he made sure that the FBI was keeping track of all celebrities activities including their social lives and political views. Under this watch was, of course, Marilyn Monroe. In the summer of 1961 Monroe took a trip to Mexico to shop for furniture. A man named Frederick Vanderbilt Field and his wife accompanied her as they were residents in this country already. The FBI had been keeping track of Monroe and all of her activities ever since Hoover was in office and this trip seemed to have been a red flag.
Field was a well known political leftist and because of his support towards many communist parties and ideas, he was accused of being a communist himself. This landed him on a watchlist and as a top target in the eyes of the American government. Monroe and Field seemed to have an infatuation with each other and their ideas, so as one can probably conclude, Monroe was suspected to be a communist as well. Recent FBI files that have been released to the public revealed that many of her close friends and people in her inner circle were concerned about her association with Field, even her therapist.
Many conspiracies are surrounding the tragic death of Marilyn Monroe. Sadly, her death was ruled a suicide, but something doesn't seem right with the official autopsy report. She was such an icon, and she was beloved by so many people. However, Marilyn died she didn't deserve to go out as she did. We may never know how she really died, but it interesting to see how everything may not meet the eye.
