The whole question of what it means to be human can de defined in many different ways. The overall idea of humanity is constantly being bounced around between a variety of perspectives, trying to understand what the life we live in means. To me, I have my own personal concept of what it means to be human. Everyday, I realize there is not one day or time that I do not make mistakes. Sometimes I try to hide away from what I mess up, but I am still never doing anything perfectly. Humans are free to make there own decisions, and whatever decisions are being made freely, you grow from them. I believe that you cannot be human if you are perfect.

Making our own decisions freely is what creates our humanity. Being human means to make choices on our own, and bearing the consequences of them. When we decide to do whatever we want ourselves, a lot of the times it’s not oftenly common to realize the outcome, which therefore leads us into making mistakes. It’s not just me who does this, or not just the people surrounding me, but the human population as a whole who make mistakes, even if we do not notice. Building connections and connecting humans together rely on the idea of helping each other out, implicating that we create issues and mess up. Surely enough, no one is going to divulge in the fact that they cause problems to oneself.

Perfection can be interpreted from many contrasting views. Generally speaking, “because only god is perfect, as humans believe, and if we believe that he is perfect, no one can match that.” (Abby G.) Some perspectives base it with god and how he is perfection and no person can match that. In addition, the consequences one has to bear, grows them more as a human. This allows someone to better grasp the understanding of why no one is perfect. Maturing as you progress through life ties back to the fact you are continually learning from the mistakes you make, concluding back to the previous claim. “To be human is to make mistakes along the way because we’re unable to predict what lies ahead and we should be able to fix and grow from their mistakes.” (Emily) Her perspective on this connects immediately back to mine; making mistakes is what causes you to grow and improve as a human being. It is nearly impossible to argue that no one has weaknesses, because to be human you do. Anyone can work on their weaknesses, meaning that if you can succeed in removing those, you are approaching the idea of perfection, but there will never be a point where you can reach that exact point.

In all, it is obvious to know that nobody is perfect. All humans make mistakes and learn from them, which allows them to grow into the mature person they become as they get older. One’s life is filled with strenghts they have, but also the weaknesses and failures in which allows us humans to have hope and desires in accomplishing them and to strive for success. The fact that everyone messes up and creates mistakes upon themselves and others does not affect how we live our lives. We are born for this to happen and if everyone were to be perfect, nothing would ever go wrong, which is not how we live our lives today. Mistakes happen, resulting changes. Acceptance and change go hand and hand, therefore leading to the claim that nobody is perfect.
