Most people these days find music to be a form of art or an expression of emotions through harmonic rhythms. However, music is also a form of entertainment that puts sounds together in a way that people find interesting or make them want to dance to. Most music includes people singing with their voices or playing musical instruments, such as the piano, guitar, drums or violin. This has made music become one of the most universal ways of expression in human life that music has been used or is being used in various occasions such as proposals, celebrations and even as a background enhancer. 

Music has become a part and parcel in peoples’ everyday lives no matter their ages or cultures from around the world. There are many types or genres of music from all parts of the world such as pop, hip hop, rock, rap, jazz, classical and many more. Music represents an enjoyable activity but its influence goes beyond simple amusement. There are many positive impacts of music on peoples’ lives in many ways possible. Thus, music shows positive effects on our daily lives because music helps people maintain emotionally as well as to bring unity among people.

According to recent findings in the neurochemistry of music, music is found to improve the function of the body’s immune system and reduce levels of stress. As an example, listening to music is found to be more successful than prescription drugs in decreasing a person’s anxiety before undergoing surgery. Besides that, music can also be a form of motivation for people. The lyrics and rhythm of music can be powerful enough to encourage people to achieve their goals or recover from any types of mental health such as depression. interest and pleasure. In this case, music helps in a form of music therapy where a qualified music therapist regularly schedule therapy sessions with their patients to help them through emotional expression. Music in an instrumental, classical or ambient form which can help reduce anxiety by up to 65%. It seems to reduce depressive symptoms too which helps people in maintaining their involvement in their jobs, daily activities and relationships. 

Furthermore, music also affects the state of mind or concentration of a person which gradually shows an effect on their synchronization of activities across several parts of their brain, allowing them to stay focus. The synchronization of repetitive muscle movements can be made to be more orderly by matching the movements to a musical beat. For instance, athletes use music to increase their pace and endurance. This is mainly because music rhythms can help athletes run to a beat faster while using lesser oxygen due to high concentration and emotional stability than those who do not synchronize their pace with music. That is why music plays an important role to reflect positivity towards a person’s emotional state.

Other than that, music has a positive effect in our daily lives by bringing unity among people. It has recently been proven by researchers that there is a part of the human brain dedicated for interpreting music which contributes to a vital effect in our lives. Listening and singing songs together has been shown in several studies to have a direct effect on neuro-chemicals in the brain which plays a role in closeness and connection. 

This way, people tend to connect when they are associated in a group with similar music interests. Moreover, people also unite when they play music together. By performing in a band or in a concert, there is contact and communication between the performers and audiences. For instance, an internationally popular band has the capability to attract audiences or fans of different religion, gender and skin colour worldwide. Their concerts are attended by people from all parts of the world forming a unity among all groups of people when they enjoy the same music together. Furthermore, music also brings people to unite just by its lyrics. 

As an example, patriotic songs of a country has the capability to bring citizens together such as during independence day where citizens of a country get to sing their national song together during celebration without looking at religion, gender or skin colour. Even in schools or learning institutes, there is an official school school song symbolizing the characteristics of that particular institute showing the significance of its students as one unit. As a once famous musician would say “Music is a higher revelation than all wisdom and philosophy”. That is why music can unite people worldwide showing a positive impact towards us.
