What is accountability? liability to be called on to render an account; accountableness. It’s important to be accounted for no matter if you’re part of a formation or some type of business. Being accounted for let’s that subjects accountee know that he/she is at his point of place and time. To be accounted for allows the subject to be somewhere else other than his point of duty, knowing that his command knows of his whereabouts and his status. The military says the definition of the word accountability is the obligation of a military officer for keeping accurate record of property, documents, or funds. Generally, accountability is imposed by law, lawful order or regulation. It is not necessary that the person having accountability must have actual possession of the property, documents, or funds.

Accountability to me is a person who takes care of him/herself, a person who is on time for formation, or a person that doesn’t fall asleep on the bus. Being accountable is accepting the fact that you messed up even if your battle buddies were fucked up as well. Taking the punishment like everyone else is doing even though they had absolutely nothing to do with it. Being accountable is not putting the fault fully on your peers. Taking responsibility for your actions makes you accountable. There are 2 types of people in this world, people who like to blame other people for their problems, and people who don’t, people who have the courage to tell themselves and their chain of command that they fucked up instead of playing the victim and asking if they can get out of it. I’m not saying i was right for leaving him on the bus but this essay is about being accountable. Accountable for your actions. Accountability in the military is crucial. In our soldiers creed it says “I am an American Soldier. I am a warrior and a member of a team.I serve the people of the United States, and live the Army Values. I will always place the mission first.I will never accept defeat.I will never quit. I will never leave a fallen comrade. I am disciplined, physically and mentally tough, trained and proficient in my warrior tasks and drills. I always maintain my arms, my equipment and myself. I am an expert and I am a professional.

I stand ready to deploy, engage, and destroy the enemies of the United States of America in close combat. I am a guardian of freedom and the American way of life. I am an American Soldier.” it specifically says “ I always maintain my arms, my equipment and myself.” Throughout a Soldier’s training and career the Soldier’s Creed is the core value set that soldiers are expected to live by. For example during basic training one of my battle buddies left his m4 in the barracks and we couldnt find it for hours turns out the drill sgt’s had it the whole time they were playing fuck fuck games with us. But if my battle buddy had always kept his weapon an arms length away like he was told it wouldn’t have happened. Being accountable also has its perks like this one time I stole some candy when i was in first grade and the teacher found out so she asked the whole class who did it i said it was me on time i wasn’t so accountable is when I was sitting in my room and my mom walked in yelling at me to clean my room so I started cleaning and got distracted and started playing with my toys she then walked in an hour later and saw i had put nothing away yet. She then asked why i hadnt started yet and instead of being accountable and telling her I got distracted i told her dad told me not the clean and she believed me until she went to my dad and asked why he told me not to clean then my dad best my ass. If i was accountable and told her the truth i probability would have just stood in the corner for 15 minutes and not got my ass beat. It also says I will always maintain my equipment. Like my camel back or my tools when working on the aircraft. To make sure I always have my camel back everyday is annoying as hell cause that thing sucks. I don’t even fill it with water it’s more useless than googly eyes on a rock. But I make sure to keep it with me at all times. Also when working on the aircraft i need to do toolbox inventory every time I take a tool out so i can keep accountability of my tools so people don’t die. There have been cases where pilots have died because other soldiers left their tools on or inside to aircraft. Being accountable saves lives.

The next thing it says is i will always maintain myself. To me that means I will maintain my mind and my physical body. Keeping accountability of what i eat and what I do in my free time is very important to me. I need to build my brain and my body mass. So staying on top or being accountable is a very important thing. It also states “I will never leave a fallen comrade” leaving my peer on the bus was not very responsible of me. We need to be 100% of all soldiers after getting off the bus. And now that that happened me have a formation for accountability which was funny at first but now is i starting to get annoying. Say your at your unit and you just going about your day the sun is shining its a crisp 80 degrees outside the you hear the motor siren and you realise you don’t have your m4 you go back to your barracks trying to find it and can not find it anywhere you walk outside your front door and that civilian worker that your mean to everyday has your m4. You slowly ask for your m4 as he points the barrel of the m4 at you as he’s pulling the trigger you think to yourself if only had i been accountable of my arms. Now with that said there is absolutely no reason you should not be an arms length away from your weapon being accountable saves your lives and the lives of our pilots. At the point when you have responsibility it is simpler to find individuals if you somehow managed to require them for anything. Being responsible methods being trustworthy, appearing at formation and appointments on schedule, making deadlines, being at the perfect spot and at the opportune time and making the best choice at the correct time. It is likewise to check whether everybody appeared at work or where they should be.

Responsibility isn’t just for monitoring others it can likewise be for monitoring cash, gear, authoritative archives, and numerous different things. The explanation you would need to monitor cash is so if there is ever a period where a great deal of cash disappears you would have the option to take a gander at the records exchanges. Being on time is very important. When I am late it makes everyone else run behind. It makes the whole day very hectic and then people get irritated easily. It would make things run much smoother if everyone was on time all the time. Being late is not only important in the army, but it is important everywhere. No matter where you work or what you do, you should always be on time. Well, most of it has to do with the saying A Man’s Word is His Bond. If you tell someone you’re going to do something, then you do it. If you don’t, you’d better give notice ahead of time, and have a pretty good reason. When most people hear the word ‘accountability,’ they immediately become uncomfortable. The thought of making oneself totally open, honest, and vulnerable with another person doesn’t sound appealing to most of us. It’s easy for people to stay in their comfort zone and avoid confronting difficult issues and weaknesses in their lives. The key to creating a successful culture of change management is accountability. In the end the word accountability means to me a person I can depend on the be there on time when the right uniform with the right materials. With the right mindset which is to hold myself and themselves accountable for our actions. I have 70 words left and I just closed my essay aso i’m going to keep typing what comes to my head because I now have 45 words and i don’t know what to talk about. And now i’m gonna put the army definition of the word accountability so I can get it to 1500 words Accountability is the obligation of a military officer for keeping accurate record of property, documents, or funds.
