Introduction

So, what exactly is ‘Waste’? Well it is basically anything that you want to throw away that will not be useful to you anymore. Nobody really knows how to dispose of all their items in the right way. According to healthy24.com Not all items can be reduced, reused or recycled. Reducing the number of items that you buy in order to create less to dispose of can be positively impacted on the planet. Reusing items, such as glass, bottled, etc. can also have a positive impact on the planet. In order to correctly dispose of your items is the first step but also recycling can make an even better impact on the planet. Knowing that electronic equipment as well as household waste can most likely be reused or reproduced can spare humankind from taking from our planet and can have a positive impact of taking more away from the planet. For us to completely understand our effect on the planet we will need to know exactly how effective waste management, recycling and sustainable consumption will improve environmental health.

Aspects of Waste Control

There are four main aspects that contribute the aspects of waste control, these include Economic Aspects, Environmental aspects, Social aspects and Technological aspects. All four of these include a short-term and long-term management control for our own waste. There is liquid waste, organic waste, hazardous waste, and solid waste.

Economic Factors

The economic factors of waste control include the fact that the disposal percentage has increased dramatically and is now causing issues in the economic state of our own surroundings. A small knowledge of understanding waste generation and disposal of rubbish can save costs within the economic structure. To what is known by Carolina the rate of disposal can control the population rates. The average ton allocated to a person between 1991-1992 was 1.8 Tons, the states goal was to drop this by 25% by 1993. Sadly, this increased by 10.3% in 2003. The income from individuals, production from companies, consumer and landfill percentages are all connected annually in the county per-capita disposal as economic principles believe. Some companies have been known to change their packaging products to a new material that have a significant mark up because they are most likely to include recycled materials or materials that are easier to break down, reuse or recycle. Municipal wellbeing, everyone wants to visit or live n a country that is clean feeling and smelling but without this people will immigrate and tourists will stop coming the country will lose tons of money and will become unsustainable.

Environmental Factors

Ecohelp.com states Improper disposal of the waste products coming from household can cause extreme impacts in the climate as well as human health. Surface water contamination changes the chemical composition of the water and can become harmful to people and animals to drink, this is also called water pollution. Soil contamination can cause the soil to lose all its nutrition which will then become a struggle to product fresh foods or foods for livestock to feed on and can become a deadly struggle. Leachate this is hazardous liquid that forms water trickles, this is harmful chemicals that will then entre the fresh water sources or soil that can be harmful to use for human and animal consumption.

Social Waste

No income, bad living conditions, socio-economic factors, crime are all causes of the social issue of waste that isn’t controlled by the community. Living in bad conditions of constantly being surrounded by waste can easily cause an individual to get ill and the waste contributes to this by 61%. If the waste does out of hand, then it is possible to public health to no longer to be able to help because of how bad conditions can become. The lack of education of proper disposal and health can cause the planet to no longer to be able to produce for human use and humans can quickly deuterate.

Technological Factors

Technology is known to improve the recyclable rates, the automatic waste collection, the route optimization, the landfill modernization, it also enhances safety. This all sounds positive until the computer running all these aspects needs to be disposed off and this can sometimes be hard to do but an individual cannot simply through their computer into the trash because this can then lead to economic pollution as the computer does hold harmful and non-biodegradable items within it.

Different Effects of Consumer Generated Waste on Environment and Human Health

According to GOAL12.com 10% Glass, 30% paper, 9% metals, 3% textiles, 4% plastic, 23% vegetable waste, this doesn’t sound good at all but that’s what the average person disposes every day. There is simple aspects that make this a lot bigger than it looks because if we focus in the disposal of 30% paper that means that in a planet of 7 billion people there is 21000000 trees being cut down on a daily basis and this becomes a crisis when someone has the realization that we need trees in order to survive but the trees are rather being used for other sell-fish aspects that can have a massive impact on human and environmental health. Some disposed items include harmful aspects such as the contents like batteries that can be harmful for humans and animals. These may eventually end up in the soil or waters that can contaminate the food and water in which we consumer and can be harmful to our health.

Disposal of home used items as well as technological items must be disposed of as soon as possible because if the item were to stay near a living individual or animal then it may cause illness or cause physical harm if something were to meet. The disposed will need to be taken care of in the correct manner for the healthiest option for the planet as well as the living around the item. If the person were to maybe reuse the item or recycle the item then it can sometimes become a cheaper option and the individual will be helping the easier production of product because there will be more recourses available to use and there will be less stress of the farmers and producers to find new ways to produce items but majority of the time those substitute products are less healthy for human kind as well as the environment around them.

Human beings are known to dispose of certain items in the quickest way possible no matter how bad it is for the environment. There are items that are known to be thrown in our everyday dustbins, but they are then disposed of in the wrong way and is now harming the environment.

Sustainable Consumption

Sustainable Consumption is the use of products and services at a minimum in order to protect the environment and higher the chances of a future generation of that specific product or service that will ensure a sustainable planet. The greatest goal for the environment is that we need to be able to make our beautiful planet sustainable and livable for the future generations to come and be able to live comfortably and healthy. The must be economic growth and welfare for the future. Sadly 1/3 rd. of the countries production of fresh food ends up rotting in the disposal bins at homes or restaurants that is $1 Trillion each year. Less than 3% of the worlds fresh water is drinkable because of the bad water pollution caused by not correctly disposing of waste products. Man is polluting the waters faster than nature can naturally purify and recycle the water on earth. Once man has used up all the natural recourses, there is very little that we can do to try providing for all 7 billion people in the world. Water is already almost fully contaminated that we cannot drink majority of it. The soils that we grow our food from is already contaminated which can quickly start affecting the health of those who eat that specific food. We are cutting down trees quicker than farmers can grow. The leftovers from what we wanted but don’t use aren’t recycled, reused or reproduced which is causing a shortage of recourses to start reproducing or engineering.

Consumer Responsibilities Regarding Recycling, Waste Management and Environmental Protection

When an item is brought, the consumer is notified by hand-outs and images on packages that include ways in which to dispose of the item properly in ways that the planet can benefit by. When a consumer is finished from the use of a non-biodegradable item then recycling is the best thing to do with an item because by recycling an item you are controlling your waste and making sure that you item cannot harm the planet by taking thousands of years to biodegrade. Recycling can cause less raw materials to be used and allow for the raw materials to be used for a less impactful process for the planet. By recycling the environment will stay clean and healthy which will allow you to proactively take care of your waste products.

My Interpretation

In my opinion the importance for a consumer to know how to recycle, where to recycle, how to reuse and reduce harmful items that are causing damage to the planet is the best way to prevent harm to the planet and therefore making the environment healthier to live in. By having a cleaner planet there is a 38% chance that the living in that environment will live a healthier life and there will be a less chance of falling ill which will increase the interest of that environment and can eventually cause more people entering that environment and the people will eventually receive more money that can contribute to important factors that allow the community to clean up the area and make it even more enjoyable to be around and all in all have a healthier life without disease causing illness in the area.

Conclusion

Something as simple as throwing a chocolate wrapper away can cause a major environmental issue. There are defiantly ways that the consumer can take actions to ensure that in the future, there will be fresh drinkable water available as well as soil that we are able to grow fresh crops that won’t make us ill. Human beings have a massive impact on what our own sustainability in the future. There are certain ways that allow us to take care of the earth and can stop ourselves from making such a negative impact on the planet. The correct knowledge, education and the right attitude towards our beautiful planet can make such a positive impact on how much we can do to ‘save’ the nutrition and sustainability of the planet. Waste management of our own waste can make a huge impact on the earth and increase the sustainability dramatically.
