The Correlation Between Environment and People’s Responsibility
Can we safely survive without the Ozone layer and fresh environment? Many scientists have been warning about the increasing natural disasters of our Earth because of climate change and pollution. NASA reported that: “The current warming trend is of particular significance because most of it is extremely likely (greater than 95 percent probability) to be the result of human activity since the mid-20th century and proceeding at a rate that is unprecedented over decades to millennia.” Despite that, blind of interest, people don’t care about those warnings. They continue to develop their assets by destroying the environment, even that will make climate change faster. The environment will become terrible and harms families, animals, and lives on the Earth. NASA also confirms: “the planet's average surface temperature has risen about 1.62 degrees Fahrenheit (0.9 degrees Celsius) since the late 19th century, a change driven largely by increased carbon dioxide and other human-made emissions into the atmosphere.” That causes the hot season longer than before in some are not tropical countries, like this 2019 Fall season on our country. The U.S weather run up to 95F on Oct 20 to 26, 2019 in CA, which should be around 70F or lower.
Another is “The Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets have decreased in mass. Data from NASA's Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment show Greenland lost an average of 286 billion tons of ice per year between 1993 and 2016, while Antarctica lost about 127 billion tons of ice per year during the same time period. The rate of Antarctica ice mass loss has tripled in the last decade.7-Flowing meltwater from the Greenland ice sheet”. Many countries at the low geographic get more flood every year because the change of current Oceans from the flowing meltwater. Mutual of animals live in North and South pole are died real fast as same as the lost of the ice by years because they lost the place and food for living.
During the increasing of electronics, and high glass buildings, the land is warmed up faster than once covered in grass or water many years before. Many in use electronic machines are released more heat to the environment, such as air conditioners, heat machines, ovens, steam boilers, gas turbine exhaust, and secondary recovery from furnaces, etc. At the same time, our lands and oceans absorb most of the excess heat from gas emissions, the reflection of greenhouses, and high glass buildings, which are leading to the rising of ocean temperatures, and climate changes on our Earth. Climate change and pollution made the Ozone layer continue to be thinner; it cannot protect us from the UV rays like twenty years ago. Because of the less of the Ozone layer protecting, humans and animals now have to experience increased rates of skin cancer and other ailments. Unfortunately, skin cancer happen in the US at a high rate, at least 9500 people per year get this disease. We had 4.9 millions citizens who were treated for this cancer every year from 2007 to 2011. It cost $8.1 billion for treatments.
“Since 1970, over 200,000 square miles of Amazon rainforest have been lost due to deforestation, close to 20 percent of the Amazon rainforest. Scientists fear that an additional 20 percent of the trees will be lost over the next two decades, causing the forest’s ecology to unravel. This will lead to drought and forest fires further destroying the rainforest.” In the point that people always know how important the nature relate to their lives, they have been motionless changing it for their benefits. They narrow forgets to get more land for their fields, factories, buildings, and to produce papers, furniture, woods, etc. That look like people try to kill themselves by avoiding the protection of the forests from flood, rainfall and the heat.
Today, it is hard to find clean water for using, we also have trouble from slowing the amount of erosion because of the increasing due to deforestation. Another is, the renovation of land reclamation on coastal habitat will change the regional groundwater in that area, which will change the coastal environment, flooding pattern, and stability of slopes and foundations. Belong to some websites, the US paid $34 billions for flood’s damage from 2011 to 2015. From the National Centers for Environmental Information, government had to pay over $308 billions for 16 types of weather and climate events in 2018. It was double the amount of disasters each year recorded since 1980; that is so frightening to know how fast the disaster increases every year. That will be more threatened if we count the number of deaths from those disasters every year.
In addition, the growth of the industry is directly proportional to the rapid deterioration of the habitat’s value. Factory’s waste, smoke, and vehicle’s smoke are the first on the list of pollution. People release billions PPM (part per million)of smoke to the air everyday, which cause kid’s asthma, even if that is an adult, they still get chest pains and coughing. People who are active outdoors are the most susceptible to those diseases. In mutual large cities, we sometimes can not see the sky clearly, especially Beijing, Santiago, London, and Los Angeles, etc; the sky was covered by smoke, and dust. Money paid for asthma’s treatment end up to $82 billions in 2018 in the U.S. Humans are releasing oils, chemicals to the water which are going to our lands, rivers, and oceans poison to agricultural crops, forest vegetation, sea lives, animals, and human lives. Oil spills cost BP company $ 23 billion to clean up on Gulf Oil Spill at Atlantic Coast. On many magazines and channels, at least a million seabirds, and a hundred of sea mammals and other kinds of fish are killed because of sea pollution each year.
And “A quarter of a trillion tons of carbon is stored in above and below ground biomass- International Day of Forests 2019.” Today, people enjoy eating healthy food; fish and vegetables are some of the best foods in our meals. But we don’t know how much of poison they take from oil, trash and chemical underground. And we take all what we did to our environment, diseases occurred in our bodies after five or ten years when we eat those poison foods everyday. The Governments are never mind, factories don’t care, and even member in our families who are get profit from those relation jobs don’t care, too. Lots of governments sell or transfer trash of their countries to other poor countries for more fresh air and clean lands. However, most of those rich countries import products from those poor countries for their citizens using. Then what? Their citizens still get effect from what governments do, they got cancers from those poisons foods. And governments must pay more for their citizen’s medicals.
Many scientists, organizations, and countries run to stop the climate change effects, and pollution, but not many governments, companies are true can less their benefits to protect the Earth. We hope that the increase of natural disaster’s results soon can affect to the governments, so they will have a law strong enough to protect the environment, and protect their young generations. Hope that the kid’s futures of motionless people are more valuable than their money, their time, so it will give them more reason to stop destroying our mother nature. And hope that more and more people be brave to stand up fighting for our land. Hope that all people have a basic knowledge for environment protection to go through their routing actions.
