The Contribution Of Brother Andrew To Christinaity
Brother Andrew was in the military as an atheist. He was in the military for several years, and he liked it a lot. One he was shot in the ankle and left the military. He also had killed a lot of people and had a serious drinking problem. When he got home,he thirsted for God and wanted a relationship with Him because he knew what he did was wrong and he also went on to say “Lord if you will show me the way, I will follow you”. From that point on he wanted to know God. He gave all his heart to Him, and he wanted other people to feel that love.
In the biography God’s Smuggler, Brother Andrew impacted Christianity by traveling everywhere across the world and “smuggling” bibles and the word of God to atheist countries. His journey began by attending a meeting by Dutch evangelist, Arne Donker. During this meeting he decided he wanted to become a missionary, and go on missions trips. Before going on the trip he worked at a chocolate factory to make more money. He soon realized that the environment of the job was very bad. The people were making bad jokes, people were just being plain dirty. So him and his future wife, Corrie reached out to everyone and prayed.
Andrew then went on to apply to Bible College in England. He was very indecisive about going, but God put on his heart that he should go, so he obeyed God and went. In college, Andrew learned “The Kings Way” in providing. He then realized that in the same way that he learned, God also Somarriba provides. For example for when God provided for his was when he needed to pay for his visa. The day he was supposed to get the visa this man named Richard (who Andrew had met in college) came asking for money. Andrew said he paid it in full, but apparently he didn’t. He suddenly looks to the floor and sees a shilling, just enough to pay off the visa. After he left the college he was going to attend a communist trip to Warsaw. While he was there he visited churches, bible shops, and spoke with Christians in the country. When he came back home, he told everyone about his experience and his observations on the trip. For the rest of his career he went on more communist trips, but this time he took a Volkswagen Beetle, and with it he smuggled bibles. He did this for years then went on to say “you can get anywhere, if you go to serve”.
He worked day and night to hand out bibles and spread the word. When he would finish, he would go back home get more bibles and head back out. By the end of it, Andrew had met many new believers of Christ, and it touched it heart to see how many people he had impacted.
