With technological innovation, many items have been changed to a new form, including books. As a character to pass down the knowledges from generations to generations, the existence of books is necessary for our society. Concerning about the function or the made-up process. there are lots of differences between printed books and E-books. Do there also have some different results after using these two items? Let’s examine those differences point by point. First, lets talk about the price. Usually the price of printed books are more expensive than the E-books. This fact is resulted from the manufacturing costs and the complex process. Tracing back to ancient times, books have the ingredient of papyrus, parchment, vellum. After few centuries they turned into paper. There are some objects existed in China, which is similar to printed books, called “ Oracle bone script ”.

People sculptured the words on animal bones or turtle plastrons. No matter the paper form or the bones, These materials cost lots of money. plus a book normally contains hundreds of pages. The content needs to be written, printed, inscribed. For E-books, there is only one thing that people need to accomplish: typing words. Second, lets talk about the influence. More and more high education class started to use E-books rather than traditional books because of It’s convenience, some may be not. Does the study result differs between two different studying process? The research shows that concerning about the aspect on cognitive learning, there was no difference. On the other hand, students who regularly use E-books for studying have benefits on perceived affective learning and psychomotor learning. ( Amanda J. & Rockinson - Szapkiw & Jennifer Courduff & KimberlyCarter & David Bennett, 2013). On the contrast, students aren’t always prefer E books than printed books. There was a experiment indicated that reading printed books could lead into better reading comprehension than reading E-books. The potential reason is eye fatigue. Students who read E-books had greater eye fatigue than those who read printed books. (Hanho Jeong,2012,). Comparing to printed books, students can get more details for their subject with E-books because of the online form. They can also search for the attachment that they are interested in and has the correlation with the topic. How about the change of reading habits? “ With an increasing amount of time spent reading electronic documents, a screen‐based reading behavior is emerging.

The screen based reading behavior is characterized by more time spent on browsing and scanning, keyword spotting, one‐time reading, non‐linear reading, and reading more selectively, while less time is spent on in‐depth reading, and concentrated reading” (Ziming Liu,2005,P). The ability of reading skills becomes more like summarizing the original article rather than completely recording the whole information. Although E-books provide varieties of topics, which could broaden the width of knowledge, the words are contracted so that the depth of information decreases. Plus, the reading pace speeds up. In contrast, People can just focus on one topic and have concrete information with printed books. People get lots of benefit from books since it had been created. We can get concrete knowledges from printed books. We can also broaden our sights through E-books conveniently. people acquire different benefits from the different form of books. Both E-books and printed books have pros and cons for using it or not, and they have something in common: Thriving the knowledges.
