In 1995, Scott Foley made his appearance in a TV series in one episode of the comedy-drama series, Sweet Valley High that is based on Francine Pascal's book series of the same name. Two years later, he was featured in the TV movies titled, Crowned and Dangerous as Matt and also in the ABC television sitcom, Step by Step that aired for seven seasons. Then in 1998, Foley's career encountered a major breakthrough as he picked up roles in two TV films - Someone to Love Me as Ian Hall and Forever love as David. In the same year, he also featured in two series, Felicity where he enacted his break out role; Noel Crane and Dawson's Creek as Cliff Elliot.

From 1999 to 2006, the brilliant producer, made appearances in two episodes of A. U. S. A, 12 episodes of Scrubs, and one episode of Girls Club, Jack & Bobby, and House respectively. He further had the role of Bob Brown in 69 episodes of the action-drama TV series, The Unit that aired on CBS from March 7, 2006, to May 10, 2009. The aforementioned series that is based on Eric L. Haney's Inside Delta Force: The Story of America's Elite Counterterrorist Unit focuses on a top-secret military unit modeled after the real-life US Army Special Operations Unit commonly known as Delta Force.In addition, Scott Foley also made a string portrayal of Jake Ballard in the political thriller series, Scandal from 2013 to 2018, starring Kerry Washington, Henry Ian Cusick, Columbus Short, Darby Stanchfield and others.

The highlight of his other TV series includes The Goodwin Games, Undateable, Goldie & Bear, Insecure, Grey's Anatomy, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, True Blood, among others.
