Articles Of Confederation: Creation And Management Of Early Republic
The Articles of Confederation was the first document that help started the government of the United States. The Articles of Confederation was weak and fragile. It did not have the authority or ability to for example to collect taxes, or police trade but under the Constitution it was permitted. There are numerous differences, one is that Congress was the only branch under the Articles of Confederation vs. three branches under the Constitution.
This government had insignificant amount of power, that the general public did not insist for a Bill of Rights under it, but they did for the Constitution. The Constitution allowed for the regulation of trade whereby the Articles of Confederation did not allow for this. The founders were able to look at the Articles of Confederation and try to expand on the ideals that was now written into the Constitution. Somethings they got right but others could have been better they did not want a single person or group to have absolute or unchecked power.
The Articles of Confederation and Constitution was drafted by the same people. The Articles of Confederation was drafted in 1781, those people that drafted thought they had at right because at the time it was right for them and the goals that they were trying to accomplish. By 1788 things began to change, what was once important was removed or expanded on. Things that could become a potential problem was added to the Constitution to make it a sound document that could last through test of time. The one thing about the Articles of Confederation that I wish would have stayed was the term limits, because the Representatives and Congress would not lose touch with their voters if they had term limits.
Native Americans devastation continued as the Nation expanded. The Native Americans land was stolen some say it was seized and sold off. Native Americans that was in opposition to the expansion would be murdered. Jefferson believed that Native Americans were savages, but conquerable yet Native Americans was not the ones that slain an entire race of people. Jefferson believed that they had the potential to assimilate in a way that no other minority or immigrate had.
Catchphrases such as “Kill the Indian, Save the Man.” This is the irony of it all one race assumed that they were more of a man, a human then these other minority groups, yet they are the ones that were savages instead of assimilated to the culture that was on this land first they killed an entire race of people, slaved an entire race of people, and brutally beat them until they assimilated to their culture.
