Andy Warhol was also known as Andrew Warhola. He had 2 siblings; their names were John Warhol and Paul Warhol (A.K.A) Pavol Warhola. His mothers name was Julia Warhol and his fathers name was Andrej Warhol. They were immigrants from Miková in northern Slovakia. Andy worked for 35 years. His nationality is American and his religion was Eastern Orthodox. During Andy’s childhood, he had various health disorders. For example he had Sydenham’s chorea and Scarlet Fever. He also had autism and asperger’s syndrome for his entire life. Andy Warhol worked with many kinds of media, including: painting, printmaking, photography, drawing, sculpture, film and music. He was also an author (wrote many books) he wrote 51 books. Some include the philosophy of Andy Warhol, the Andy Warhol Diaries, 25 cats Name Sam and one Blue Pussy and 48 others! He also started a magazine (called Interview magazine). Andy Warhol was most famous for his paintings, printmakers, filmmaker, and pop artist. He is known for his Marylyn Monroe paintings, soup cans and sensational newspaper stories. His style of painting is pop art. At the age of six Andy Warhol did not want to go to a school because of an older girl hurting him but his mother insisted that he went to school. So he went to Holmes Elementary School.

For his age Andy Warhol was a loner and didn’t have many friends. For his education Andy went to Schenley high school, Carnegie Mellon University. Andy Warhol graduated at Carnegie Institute of Technology. Andy Warhol founded the New York Academy of Art in 1979. Right after he graduated Andy Warhol founded his own studio named ‘The Factory’ in New York. Many artists, such as writers and musicians, joined hands with Andy, to become a part of his new initiative. Andy Warhol was shot 3 times in the chest and nearly died on June 3rd 1968. The shooters name was Valerie Solana’s. Valerie Solana was a writer in one of Andy Warhol’s movies. Valerie was a passionate feminist and one of many who thought Warhol was abusive and controlling. She thought that he deserved to die. Warhol was at one point pronounced dead, but was revived and slowly recovered. In high school Andy was excused from an art club because he was better than the rest of the members. Here are some quotes from Andy Warhol “Everyone will be famous for 15 minutes, Art is what you can get away with, They always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself,” and more. One of Andy’s most important accomplishments was making himself an icon and producing velvet underground. What I found most interesting was that Andy Warhol was emblematic of the rich artistic culture in New York City. He lived in New York for most of his life, and he certainly transformed and was transformed by the Big Apple. But he was actually from a small neighborhood in Pittsburgh, and raised by two Slovakian parents. He was raised a Byzantine Catholic; and in fact, he’s buried in the St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Cemetery in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania – a homage to his heritage and his religion. Andy Warhola passed away in his later life; Warhol suffered from chronic issues with his gall bladder. On February 20, 1987, he was admitted to New York Hospital where his gall bladder was successfully removed and he seemed to be recovering. However, days later he suffered complications that resulted in sudden cardiac arrest and he died on February 22, 1987 at the age of 58. Thousands of people attended a memorial for the artist at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City. He passed away in New York City.
