To begin with, most of all we will pinpoint the common source of this basic word Social work. It is referring to a professional activity of helping individuals, groups and society in order to better-quality, their well-being and standard of living life. Foremost, we will be addressing on the importance of it and how to capture the attention of the villagers on how we have been observed and learned from what they were doing and how we will make a difference in their lives.

Based on field trip report, we the second year students of Social and Religious study had a total of two field trips official visit. On the first field trip, we went out on visiting two urban communities around Madang area. The first community that we actually visited was Balham village and Yabob was the second village that we make an attempt to visit after completing the visit in the first village. Besides, the very core purpose of us visiting these two urban communities were basically to identify the significant of Early Child Development and the impacts that it provided in the surrounding environment.

In addition, on the second field trip, we firstly visited the Holy Spirit early child development school which was a minor school within the elementary and primary school campus. It was well organized because every schooling material, teachers, children play ground and other resources were fully equipped just because the school was at the center of town and heart of catholic dioceses. Lastly, we went to the Riwo village. Altogether, we almost visited 4 ECD schools in Madang area.

However, from our personal observation by interviewing the ECD schools. We found out that each school has its personal needs to be considered by the Catholic mission, NGOs or the government organization whoever first established it. The concern towards the need of these schools will promote the quality education for the infant. Also the 3 villages in Madang area were in desperate need of getting some learning materials, building facilities, material for children playground and more teachers.

The main objective of establishing Early Child Development and Parenting for Child Development by the UNICEF is to develop a child to know and learned about social work. Under the study of social work, it was there to help the vulnerable people in the community, educate the young ones through all level of education. When ECD was first introduced in the community, there was a tremendous changes and it gave opportunity to small children under the age of 3 to 5 years. Also, the parenting for child development was another program that was offered by the UNICEF, which is very essential because it provides parent with the idea of how to look after their infant till adolescence. Further, we observed some of the phoenix teachings that were taken by the ECD schools. They both worked collaboratively after the ECD was first introduced in the village of Yabob and Riwo.

According to the learning perspective, it is paramount for the children because it helps build the brain capacity of thinking and developing before reaching the elementary schools. It is the foundation of all level of education. Therefore, the child will become more advance in knowledge and better in the future. All these programs were set in place by the UNICEF through the often support of catholic church. The mother church plays a vibrant role in the human resource development in the country. Some of the importance of social work on the field report were, what we are trying to make sure that human self-respect should be highly valued in those particular societies especially the small children by their parents. Besides, on what we are performing as the social worker, we try to fit ourselves in the shoes of those communities and experience what life is liked for them.

Also, we are confronted the issues and problems of the society by writing proposals and claim to the Catholic church or the government in order for the funding of some money to build classrooms or other learning materials for the kids. Finally, we care for the family matters, their children’s education and authorize them through sponsorship by the UNICEF and Catholic mission.

All in all, from my personal observation I can say that, the teachers from each early child development were completely committed and sacrificing their time on imparting their best on the children without being paid or getting any allowances. We as Social Workers should work around the clock to at least acknowledge their hard working by informing the government to do something in regards of pocket allowances.

As well, some of the similarity problems that each ECD schools confronted in their daily basis of learning were, in relation to the above statement, the teachers of each year level working without being paid. There were tremendous shortages of learning resources and materials, also there were unavailability of teaches and Bod of Director, most importantly there were lack of classroom facilities. We as social worker must took these problems into consideration and informed the government to provide some basic services which can suit the interest of children because these children will be the future of this nation.
