Reasons Why People Shouldn't And Want To Go To College

Do I really need college? Can I succeed without it? Some say going to college will encourage you to take the job you love and to get money to pay the bills. Meanwhile, for other people, it is a good way to gather people, to learn more about the reality of our various situations, and to discover essential skills to succeed. Also, college isn’t a good option for everyone. While some people go to college to discover their love, others already realize their love and they don’t need college to accomplish it. College is not only a place to learn new things but also an opportunity for them to develop their talents, that being said if someone feels that they've learned everything they needed to learn, and already have their skills fully developed, college is unnecessary.

Author of the article, 'Are Too Many People Going To College,' Charles Murray states that, well, there might just be too many people are going to college. This means that there are certain types of people who simply go to college and have no reason other than to live up to societal pressures or succumb to their familial high expectations. Most of these people will leave college unexpectedly and a few might not even acquire the job that they so desperately desired. The choice really comes down to going to college, and possibly being unhappy forever, or not going to college and possibly being fulfilled. by it. I think that if you're going to college for the wrong reasons, then you probably shouldn’t go. I'm sure you've heard about the pros and cons of going to college, but to put it simply, that route is not for everyone. But the real question is, why does everyone feel the need to go?

The short answer is our societal culture. Making the pilgrimage to a college is so heavily romanticized that a lot of people force their children into going when they really shouldn't. To be honest, Colleges are corporations and sometimes they take advantage of people that basically feel the need to go and blend in with society, and then upscale tuition prices so high, that it's literally almost criminal. Instead of relying on our own abilities that could get us to the same jobs without monstrous amount of debt, we have faith in a piece of paper that is basically more like a second high school degree in terms of pay grade. This is just ludicrous. Worse than all that is pushing the idea that we all need to go to a four-year college and our unstable economy desperately relies on everyone to have a college degree. And because of this, there are young people today in college who definitely shouldn't be there. They are wasting time, faking their way through five or six years of their life to get through a four-year course. They are struggling with grades, taking majors that will be useless for employment. And on top of this, they are not even sure what it means to be an adult.

Many people as children are made to believe the brainwash that going to college will be the best decision to make if they wish to become a successful person in life. They say people who missed out on going to college regret not going to college when that had the chance to. It’s drilled into our heads at an early age that going to college is simply the best choice to make. And since we are told that at such a young age, it follows us till we get to high school. This leads to a lot of confusion and stress for students. I am here to tell you that going to college is a decent option for some, but certainly not for all. College is a great place to learn about yourself, your interests and what makes you tick, don't get me wrong. But if you want to be successful in life, then go out there and find something that will truly fulfill your passions and make you happy. I'm sure you have heard many stories of people who went to college because they wanted to become doctors, but more often than not, it was really just their parent's dream. This is the sad but true reality plaguing a lot of our nation's youth. And it needs to come to an end.

In conclusion, the reason why people shouldn't go to college is that it does not prepare everyone for the world outside, nor does it fulfill our inalienable need for the pursuit of happiness. Going to college won't guarantee you a job. It only gives you a piece of paper that's supposed to help you get one. But guess what? Millions of other people got the same paper, and applying for the same job. So if you want to be successful in life, then go out there and do something different. Find what sets you apart from the world and go after it. And if that doesn't necessarily include going to college then so be it.
