Reading Books Or Ebooks: The Convenience Or Aesthetics

For past generations, technology has been developing to meet our needs in today’s world. Physical objects are being used less and smart devices have been taking their places. Pens and pencils aren't much of a need nowadays and have been replaced with computers and smartphones. Books became one of these objects. It has become a subject of debate for the past few years for the reason that which version is better, hard copy or the digital version. They both have advantages and disadvantages in its use, but it goes back to everybody's taste and enjoyment on which of them it’s preferable. Ebooks may have been more preferable in the past years but something about the hard copy make you return back to it. Each one of them has pros and cons in their uses but choosing one of them as most suitable depends on their factors.

Ebooks are gaining more popularity each year. Its features make the reader’s life easier. They can be with you everywhere and anywhere. You can take as many books as you want in one device that can take the journey with you. You can own an unlimited number of books that you want without a need for a bookshelf or bookcase; which can cost more money. Ebooks are also cheap to obtain, they cost less than printed books. There are no more weight to be lifted in any way, only your device with an infinite number of books. They are also environmentally friendly. No wasting paper and no polluting nature. Advantages aren’t the only thing that ebooks have, they also have disadvantages that can harm the human’s body. The eyes are the first part of the body that can be in danger of overusing the electronic devices. The children who nowadays use technology more than adults are at bigger risk from these devices. They spend a huge amount of their time on screen to read online books which leads to not sleeping good and daily fatigue. Ebooks can distract the reader easily which leads him to skim through the book without processing any information. They may be a helpful choice for human beings and their needs, but they can be harmful at the same time.

Printed books are completely different from the ebooks. They have that feeling that no ebooks have. The feeling of the hardcover and the turning of papers give the reader the excitement of wanting to know what's hidden between the cover. Printed books give more imagination to the reader about the story they are reading. They are good for strengthening your memory and enhancing knowledge. Taking notes is easier in printed papers, where you can put all your thoughts in one place without losing it, which you can go back to it anytime. You can bookmark anywhere in the paper that you can use for later reference. Ebooks can absorb those thoughts which make comprehending hard and taking notes difficult. Books are less distracting objects that helps enhance the deep reading. Phones or any other devices have become everybody's main object, which makes reading notifications their daily routines. With books, there are no pop-out messages or notifications that can disturb you deep reading. Their downside is that printed books can become a reason for polluting nature. Misusing it creates a worldwide problem of contamination that can later cause it to be a harmful object. They also cause pain in the body from heavyweight which leads to a struggle for the reader. Heavy bags and high prices are not something that everyone enjoys. Those disadvantages make the printed books a source of debate.

Both digital and printed books have their pros and cons. But the printed book is more preferable to me despite its cons. Printed books gives the reader more realness to the story and the characters. It gives an emotional connection that ebooks do not give. They let you have a one on one talk with the author regarding your feelings about the book, characters, and important parts of the story. After a long day, the books are a good way of relaxing and just enjoying your free time. There is no need for a battery charger or wifi signal that can ruin your delightful moment of reading a book. Lastly, printed books can be restored after many years of destruction, still holding all the information and the stories of the past without losing that “feel”. They may be difficult to carry around but the weight that is being carried is the weight of knowledge.

Books, whether printable or digital, are still books. They have their pros and their cons like any other object. They are likable based on their different factors. Ebooks may have the ability to be taken anywhere with ease and simplicity, but printed ones may have that “feel” that no ebook has. They may be a little expensive and beyond its cost, or cheap and under the price. They can be less harmful to the human body with no eye strain or the reason for pollution and destruction of the mind and body. Digital books may make you bookbag lighter but the weight on printed ones is the weight for learning and understanding. Books were the reason for many innovations and the development of new technologies, but in the end printed book was the reason for innovating and developing the ebook.
