Biography
He was born Sacha Noam Baron Cohen on the 13th day of October, 1971 in Hammersmith, London, England to his father, Gerald Baron Cohen, a clothing store owner and his mother Daniella Naomi, both of whom have Jewish origins. He was raised according Jewish traditions and alongside his two older brothers; Erran and Amnon. Talking about his racial background and status, he’s British by nationality and belongs to white ethnic group and also speaks Hebrew fluently as his native language.
As regards his educational background, he first started at Haberdashers’ Aske’s Boys’ School in Elstree, Hertfordshire. After graduation, he attended the University of Cambridge, and studied history at Christ’s College, Cambridge, and bagged an upper-second-class honor in 1993. During his days at Cambridge, he joined the Cambridge University Amateur Dramatic Club, where he performed in plays like Fiddle on the Roof and Cyrano de Bergerac.
Following his graduation from the university, he took to modeling. His journey into the world of TV shows and movies started when he began hosting a weekly show on Windsor cable TV with Carol Kirkwood. In 1995, he got the perfect opportunity to showcase his comedic talent when he sent his personal self-recorded tape of a character named Kristo (a fictional character which would later developed into Kazakh Borat Sadiyev) to Channel 4, after its announcement to TV presenters that the channel is planning to replace its series “The Word.” And it did catch the producer’s attention.
