Students’ achievement and adjustment are influenced by many people, processes and institutions. Parents, the broader family, partner, peer groups, neighbourhood influences, schools and other bodies (e.g. churches, clubs) are all implicated in shaping children’s progress towards their self fulfilment and citizenship. The children themselves, of course, with their unique abilities, temperaments and propensities play a central role in forming and reforming their behaviour, aspirations and achievements in education.

Family is the one that influenced students’ achievement. Family is a group of people affiliated by consanguinity or by marriage. Member of immediate family may include a spouse, parents, brother, sister, son and daughter. “Family not an important thing. It is everything.”- Michael J.Fox. Parents and families have the most direct and lasting impact on children’s learning and development of social competence. When families are involved, students achieve more, exhibit more positive attitudes and behaviour, and feel more comfortable in new settings. Early childhood providers need to reach out to families in order to build the kind of relationships that engage them active partners early in their children’s education.Families are crucial partners in promoting positive skills in student education. So, how about partner? Did partner give positive effect towards student’s education.

This exploratory research uses both qualitative and quantitative approaches. Creswell (2003), Cherryholmes (1992) and Murphy (1990) highlight the need for researches to have a freedom of choice in search of the truth. They draw attention to the aim of conducting any research as searching for the truth and researches may use mixed methods to provide the best understanding of the research problem. Both qualitative and quantitative techniques are applied to explore views on students and family relationship. The sample size, which is large enough, qualifies for quantitative approach. In addition, results from the survey are quantitatively analysed, using inferential statistics. Data obtained from the survey are also presented quantitatively, in the form of tables and charts to facilitate data interpretation. Survey is preferred to interview because the sampling size is quite large. Thus, it is time consuming to conduct personal interview.

Our research is about the impact between KMC students among PDT, their partners and families in studies. We will use techniques namely questionnaires and analysis of data. The respondents for this research are 50 KMC students among PDT. They are divided into 20 male students and 30 female students. They are from Module 1, Module 2 and Module 3. The questionnaires prepared are all related to our topic. It will show to the respondents about the research on the impact between KMC students, their partners and families in studies. The reason why we used questionnaire as our instrument because it is simple and reliable due to its confidential (as no name/position is asked in the questionnaire). Our respondent will trust the questionnaire fully and will not hesitate to answered the question. So, findings about the research will be accurate and truthful.

Other than that, the cost for the questionnaire is cheap and do not require much financial support. The result obtained will be tabulated and constructed into graphs, pie charts and data tables. We will get the conclusion from the data collected. We also get information by searching the internet. We find out more whether partner or family give positive impact in student’s studies.

There are 50 questionnaire distributed randomly among PDT student of KMC.All the questionnaire were successfully answered and returned. The respondents for this research are 50 students. They are divided into 20 male students and 30 female students. They are from Module 1, Module 2 and Module 3. The questionnaires prepared are all related to our topic. It will show to the respondents about the research on the impact between KMC students, their partners and families in studies. The result show that 58% of student who answered the question have a PNGK 3.00 and above. Most of students who got a PNGK above 3.00 do not having a partner while least of student do having a partner.

There are 42% of student among PDT have a PNGK below than 3.00.The percentage of student having a partner is higher than those student do not having a partner for PNGK below than 3.00. Why most student do not having a partner got a PNGK 3.00 and above? This is because most of them choose family in their studies due to the some reasons. From the interview,we could see family support is the main reasons that contribute to get the flying colours results. Most of them agreed that good relationship between family and student are important for the individual well being as well as student’s achievement.

We have found here that the quality of family and student relationship is important with understanding between themselves in order to show the great performance in studies. Why least of student that having a partner got a PNGK below than 3.00? From our view, most of them cannot give full concentration towards their lesson in class. This shows us that having a partner give negative impact towards student studies. However, there are few of them can performed well in studies eventhough they having a partner. This is because they know how to manage their time wisely and grab the opportunity while having a partner. Having a partner can give good benefits to student which are can form a study group and do revision together. So, having a partner or not is not the main reason to perform well or not in studies unless they know to handle it wisely. However, in this research shows most of students choose family than partner in order to have the best performance in studies.
