While the Top-down one is voluntary, slow, and effortful; it is the seat of self-control and helps people learn new models and make new plans. The greatest mind distributes tasks between both minds.
Self-awareness holds the key in everything, especially when making decisions. Our delicate physiological reactions replicate the summation of our expertise relevant to the choice at hand. We can test our own self-awareness by having a complete look at ourselves. This process does involve us rating ourselves on specific behaviors or traits and comparing their results to what others think of them. There are two major streams of self-awareness, one, “me”, which builds narrative about our past and future, second, “I”, which brings us into the immediate present. The “me”, links U.S. to what we have a tendency to expertise across time. The “I”, exists solely within the raw expertise of our immediate moment.
The “I”, builds from our brain’s system. Self-awareness, including awareness of emotions, leads to self-control during AN emotional outburst; distraction will work to calm the emotions down. Will-power is also one of the most important factors in navigating through life. The better your self-control is, the higher you’ll be doing in your thirties you’ll be more successful financially. The worse your childhood impulse management is, the less you’ll make, the shakier the health. Statistical analysis found that a child’s level of self-control is every bit as powerful a predictor of his/her adult financial success and health. The ability to note that we tend to have gotten anxious and to require steps to renew our focus rests on consciousness.

For me the best part is how author shifts the attention from self, to outer world, and finally to global system awareness. Self-awareness has a transparent perception of your temperament, as well as strength, weakness, thoughts, motivation and feeling. Self-awareness is developed through practices in focusing your attention on the detail of your temperament and behavior, it's not developed solely by reading books, it's developed by practicing and believing ourselves.
