The importance of education cannot be overstated; it plays a vital stance on personal, community and national levels. Reforms in educational systems contribute towards economic development and sustainability, with innovative and research based approaches in every sector. Educated and skilled citizens will be able to earn livelihood and sustain themselves. Basic problems like poverty, population explosion, environmental pollution, superstitions and social evils can be solved by community education.

Although free education for all has multiple benefits, it is impractical. Living in the era of inflation, it would be very difficult to hire faculty willing to work at negligible pay. Moreover, the operation of a free educational program would be at the expense of huge taxation which posing additional burden on the people.

Education provides a golden opportunity for all members of society, but not all people will avail it. Mostly because education is not a priority for some people having different life objectives. For instance, education will be of little value for a masonry worker who performs hard labor, even if it’s free. Thus it would be wiser to utilise valuable national income to provide education to the people who aspire or have a need for it first.

Students not paying out of their pockets for education will start taking it for granted. Study will only be blown off as an unimportant necessity or something that can be easily squandered. Students will lose the passion to study, and will skip class because they “aren’t in the mood.” They will waste precious time, compromising their future. Education should be treated like the privilege it is, not like an inconvenience or burden.

Despite good quality education paving the way for a self-sustainable life, people will adopt the ‘sick role’ and get admitted in institutes to enjoy the burden free life. They will use study as an excuse to avoid earning income to supporting their families. This will have negative implications; students will think perhaps everything in life is easy and free of cost, and lose important qualities like dedication, struggle and hard work. Education will become the easy way out for most people if it doesn’t have a price.

Thus in light of above reasoning, free education for all offers a golden opportunity to well-deserving students and contributes to personal and national development. However, generalising free of cost education would be fruitless, with unnecessary utilisation of resources causing moderate benefit, increased misuse and failing to see the true value of education.
