Analysis Of The Prominent Works Of 20th Century Art
Many artists shone at the turning points of the 19th and 20th centuries, most important of which were the three great post-impressionists: Cezanne, Gauguin, and Van Gogh. The cubism inspired by Cezanne, the primoris inspired by Gauguin and the expressionism inspired by Van Gogh constituted the major artistic forms in the first half of the 20th century. Today I'm going to describe three works of 20th century art.
First, 'The dance of life.' Edvard Munch shows couples dancing in The light of a summer night. The main element is the middle couple, the woman in the bright red dress dancing closely with her partner; Her loose hair wound around him, and they seemed to be one. The couple was flanked by two women: a young, vivacious woman in a white dress and a pale woman with sunken black cheeks.
It's like talking about different stages of a woman's life. Munch set up scenes on the beach, including views of the village of Afghanistan. The curved shorelines and unique landscapes of Asgardian are the backdrop for many of the munch's series of 'life carvings' that is associated with his long life. In 1898, the monk was sent to The Danish playwright Helge Rode's latest play, 'The Dance Goes On,', which probably inspired or refined monk's idea of this painting. In the play, artist archie volmer says,
'Dance of life - my picture will be called dance of life! There will be a couple dancing in flowing clothes... He hugged her tightly. He is very serious and happy. He would hold her so tightly that she would merge with him halfway through.... He is full of power. Munch keeps rhodes's plays in his library, but that may not be his only inspiration for the painting, and the scene may well reflect his own personal experience. Dance of life will be one of the most important works in the life sculpture series.
Second, the scream. The scream is an 1893 painting by Norwegian artist Edvard Munch. The subject of the painting is an extremely painful expression against the background of blood red. In munch's eyes, the Oslo fjord was filled with tremors, blood-red hallucinations, frightening and even nauseous. In 'scream' paintings, monck, although the color and the authenticity of the natural color is consistent, but extremely exaggerated expression, showed his own feelings, in the painting line is distorted, and stout straight in stark contrast to the bridge, a picture of a monk will dull, anxiety and lonely feelings, performance to an extreme. The scream is a representative work of expressionist painting.
Third, 'The sick child. The sick child in sister Johanne Sophie, died of tuberculosis at The age of 15. Monk in more than 40 years, in his art, again and again to return to The depth of a traumatic event, completed more than six oil paintings, and conducted many studies on various media. In these works, Sophie deathbed, tend to have a woman with black hair, grief at her side, she considered her aunt Karen; research often shows her head bobbed. In all versions, Sophie is lying in bed, obviously very painful, on a white big pillow, looking at an ominous curtain, is likely to be the symbol of death.
Scene, she took a lingering expression, with an extremely sad old hand in hand. The old woman seemed to want to comfort her, but she bowed his head, seems can't bear to look straight into the eyes of the young girl. Throughout his career, monk often come back to his work, and created a few different versions. For monk, the sick child is a way to record his despair and pain. Monk nearly died of tuberculosis when I was a child. In the next few decades, The six paintings were painted over a period of more than 40 years, using many different models.
In a word, The dance of life, The scream and The sick child have their own characteristics and they embody The art of The 20th century.
