Sanderson Soap company was founded by Emily and James Sanderson in 1978. It is a small family owned and operated company that is in Portland, Maine that has been operating for more than 35 years. Emily, the chief executive, has a love for fragrance and knowledge with the cosmetics industry. James, the vice president, has experience and a degree in organic chemistry. As Sanderson Soap company continue to thrive and grew, Emily and James, employee were hired however, with they family members receiving top priority for the positions.

Products, Goods, and Services

Sanderson Soap company currently is supplying their products to more than 200 retails in New England with high quality soaps, shampoos and other beauty products, they have 24 products in six product lines and their signature floral scents are Rose and Lilac (SNHU, 2019). They also specialize in different coastal themed products that were designed to attract both male and female couples of the New English shoreline (SNHU, 2019).

Customers

Sanderson Soap company customers are from Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island (SNHU, 2019). Their customers are believed to very loyal towards the company. Margaret Bennett is the vide president of marketing and sales, (Emily’s sister) tends to travel frequently to maintain relationships with the companies client and create new clients too.

Markets

Emily and James Sanderson wished to expand into other markets and eventually nationwide. However with the lack of knowledge and necessary resources it will be hard for the couple to make such a large expansion. Especially with the issues that the company faced last quarter with productivity and barely being able to fill out orders (SNHU, 2019).

Competitors

Sanderson Soap Company competitors are other soap companies that are nationwide. Other competitors companies who provides shampoo, soap, and beauty to retailers in New England.

Organizational Structure

The organizational structure at Sanderson Soap company is family orientated with more than 30 employees, 18 of them are family. Emily Sanderson (61) is the cofounder and chief executive office at the company. Emily would handle marketing, sales, accounting, human resources, and all other operational responsibilities. James Sanderson (62) is the cofounder and vice president of product development and product. James works as a organic chemist for the company and would use his wife ideas and turn them into quality lotions, shampoos, and other products (SNHU, 2019). Margaret Bennett (57) Emily sister is the vice president of marketing and sales at the company. Margaret is in charge of managing client relations to the company.

Allison (31) executive assistant at the office her role includes clerical support to the entire organization and serves as the backup receptionist. Janet (37) degree in organic chemist, is known to be her fathers (James) right arm. Amy (30) and her husband Sanjay (34) work in production along with two non family members. Sanjay has a degree in organic chemistry, his ideas are different from James and Emily. Scott (20) Margaret nephew is being trained by her to work in sales and marketing. Rachel (28) is not a family member and helps the company with advertising and serves as the organization receptionist. John Sanderson (38) eldest son of Emily and James, is the vide president of distribution. Ed and Andy (18) twins, helps with packaging products for the company. Dave who is James brother helps with transportation. Anthony Sanderson (33) is the company chief financial officer, he helps with billing, bookkeeping, purchasing, mailroom, housekeeping, and human resource functions (SNHU, 2019).

Employee Diversity

Sanderson Soap company lacks diversity. As of currently, one employee Sanjay, is working for the company who is not white. Sanjay is bothered by this fact and that he is the only individual who is activist for animal rights.

Productivity Issue

When it comes to productivity at Sanderson Soap company, this has been an issue. With issues in the department of distribution, development and production. The issues with the distribution department is that production is failing. The reason for this is because John who is the vice president of distribution is very hard to work with and employees have complained about him. Product development and production always has absenteeism and turnover is very common in this area. Which as created workload for other employees.
