Why Guns Should Not Be Banned
Living in a world with nonstop rivalries, political unrest, and uneasiness, the topic of gun ownership remains one of the most controversial topics. Our world can argue right or wrong, politically left or right, and yes or no, but safety and security is wanted throughout all people. As a mother protects her child, or a healthy geese flies back to protect its injured, so does a gun protects a human. The importance of owning a firearm, the pros and cons of gun control, and the 2nd amendment rights given to all citizens will all be provided throughout this paper. Why guns should not be banned?
The main argument from pro gun control people is that if guns were to be removed than crime would be put to an end. , people aren't going to change just because guns are taken away. If anything it will be easier to be a criminal because there will be no one able to stop them. As an article by AMMO introduces the fact that criminals are more afraid of armed citizens rather than policemen. The main reason for this is because policemen are sworn to shoot when absolutely necessary, rather than a citizen who can shoot when being threatened with physical or deadly harm.
Crime rates have been rising very quickly over the past few years but just think, what if we weren't able to protect our self, if all of our ways of self defense are stripped away from us. If guns were banned, what would stop criminals from doing the terrible things they do? Why would a criminal think twice about going to rob a bank if there was nobody that was going to stop them. The fact of the matter is that they won't, crime rates will skyrocket up causing so many more unnecessary deaths.
In the midst of a crime, criminals lose the realization of reason and rationality. Their means of reason is in the use of a gun, instead of human reconciliation. Most issues with criminals is that they have developed something mentally wrong within them, not that they got ahold of a gun and instantly start to annihilate the human population. Studies have proven that a majority of criminals have had some sort of abuse, bullying, etc. throughout their life. All the blame has been put on guns instead of the mentally lost who are committing these crimes. The legitimate issue with today's world is “us”, the people. Humans are extremely self centered and want instant gratification, that we hurt others so badly causing them into a terrible place. It's almost like we are to narrow minded to open our eyes to the bigger picture.
Majority of the debates with gun control are caused by people being misinformed by these big influential news companies. A substantial amount of people reporting on gun control and gun laws are not gun owners themselves, which causes a bias towards firearms. Journalists focal points are continually about how guns are the main and only problem. They never fail to bring all the suicides and murders caused by guns to light, but fail to mention all that led up to this catastrophe.
There is a lot of controversy on the Second Amendment law and what it is truly saying, weather its people arguing that it’s only targeted to a certain group of people or that it is an individual's right to bear arms. For the advocates of more gun control the Second Amendment is strictly for militias, meaning only the people in the army fighting for us are able to bear arms. Now I absolutely agree that our military needs to be armed but so does everyone else. Policemen aren’t going to be able to protect you at all times, that's why we need to learn how to protect ourselves. To the opponents of more gun control the Second Amendment is their ticket/voucher of their rights. They believe that guns are an absolute necessity for self-defence and protection.
To many people, shooting is a very thrilling and exciting experience. Loading the gun and shooting at your target, can become a religious hobby. For the majority of gun owners, being told that their painless hobby is the reason for these peoples deaths, is just obnoxious.
In conclusion, all of this comes down to protecting yourself and the ones you love. Guns, when used properly, are a great way to protect yourself.
