What Would You Do If You Won The Lottery

The lottery is what every American dreams of winning. Everyone has their own plans for if they win. Fast cars and dream vacations are the primary things you hear people say they will do. My plans for the money are slightly different. I have thought about this carefully over the years and I have come up with what I believe to be the best option for myself and my family for a stable future.

If the lottery winnings are $100,000,000.00 the first thing I will do is set up two separate trust funds with $20,000,000.00 each for my children. The money will be under the stipulation that the kids cannot touch it until after their 21st birthday. The second thing I would do is pay off all of my current debt. I would then pay off my parent’s house and vehicles, as a thank you for all the support they have given me over the years. I will then help my sister by paying off her car loan to lighten the burden she carries. My brother will get a year’s worth of supplies to add to his “end of the world” reserves.

Once all the bills are paid I will be buying 100 acres of land in central Illinois. It will be my refuge from the rest of the world. Insulated from the noise of traffic and the smell of pollution in the cities today. Instead I will hear the wind blowing through the trees, the birds singing first thing in the mornings. I won’t have to see all the concrete buildings and trash in the streets. I will get to see deer drinking from the pond I will have on the property. There will be a garden with tomatoes, cucumbers, green beans, watermelons, onions, and corn. 

The house will be a wooden cabin style single story with a full basement. The front door will open up into a small entryway adjacent to the large living room that has a large brick wood burning fireplace with a carved wooden mantel. There will be a big bay window that will let in the sunlight. There will be hardwood floors throughout the house. The living room will open up into the kitchen on the east side of the house. It will have wood cabinets with bronze plated hardware. The countertops will be granite. There will be a large island in the center of the kitchen with a butcher’s block as the top for food preparation with a dishwasher installed in the island across from the sink. There will be a six burner gas range with a range hood. A large pantry equipped with can storage. The master bedroom will be the whole west side of the house. It will have its own large brick fireplace with a carved wood mantle a fur area rug in front of it with two large cushy armchairs facing the fire grate for those cold nights. French doors leading to the wrap around porch. Large matching walk-in closets. The attached bathroom will have his and her sinks, a glass-fronted walk-in a shower with a rain shower head, a Jacuzzi tub big enough to fit three large people. 

The remaining money will be put into a high interest savings account. I will not quit my job, but I will reduce the time I spend at work to spend more time with my family.
