Understanding the Responsibilities of Congress Members

Kimberly Teehee is a definite role model for a lot of women of color and Native Americans everywhere. She has become the first ever appointed delegate designated to represent the Cherokee Nation in the U.S. House of Representatives. Kimberly worked hard to achieve her success and has the training and skills to accomplish as much as she can to be an elected leadership role model. As a delegate who is elected, she is going to be sent out to represent others and attends meetings or conferences. As a representative, she may introduce or present feedback from their constituents and be the voice to their concerns and interests of topic. She will or may introduce some resolutions or bills. At the same time she will mainly represent based on the economics and social groups in the community.

As a delegate for the House of Representative she matters the most to people she represents in showing her loyalty and working on bringing up the people’s interests to the discussion table when she attends a committee meeting. She will serve as a member of the House of Representatives in which she will try to give her devotion by addressing constituent problems and to promote her chances of getting re-elected by treating everybody with equality and respect to get the same treatment in return. She has media coverage to help her get recognition and be recognized by a lot of people showing the positive services she provides and her she is seen doing a lot of important things in Congress. In raising concerns of what voters want she’ll be in a position to show that her commitment to serving as a representative is what is needed to make a positive change to get the bills passed through the House and Senate. She will also be remembered in making appearances in her district or town meetings, or playing an active role in getting involved with community gatherings, activities or special events in public.

Unlike the trustee who’s more concerned about being responsible, as a delegate, she has to be very attentive and respond clearly to care enough about discussion being communicated. One of the toughest jobs she would have to face as a delegate would be when she takes a position on an issue, and what she chooses may not be agreeable to a group of people, while at the same time it might be great for another group of people. Having a good cash flow would play a big part in having a successful campaign in getting re-elected. Also, endorsement from different organizations will be helpful as well because of her color, racial and ethnic background she is valuable to have as a representative to a lot of minority groups. She’s not only educated, but motivated to speak her mind and follow through with what she wants to accomplish. Having her as a representative helps to make the minorities have trust in the system and it helps that she is of their own kind which benefits both parties. This type of representation would be considered a descriptive representation. Furthermore, not a lot of representatives have that unique background and similarities that she does that make a difference to a lot of people of color. As for representing the interests of the group or advocating for that group it would be considered a substantive representation.

Due to her previous work in the office she would be considered somewhat of an incumbent and worked on a full time basis when she ran the Congressional Native American Caucus in which she held sessions for the members of Congress and briefed them on different issues such as health or justice. Her name is also much recognized by a lot because of all this and what she’s representing. Not like before, there are more representatives now who are of ethnic background, women and color such as herself. Strong women who now have a voice.
