Tragic Life Of Mindy Mccready, Teenage Country Music Phenom
McCready, well known for her hit country music album Ten Thousand Angels, as well as for her personal struggles which was accompanied with several encounter with the law enforcement agencies.
At age 37 she was discovered dead by acute self-inflicted gunshot injuries. Four weeks later, her boyfriend David Wilson was reported to have taken his own life. However, the news about the country star's death did not come as a surprise to most people that have followed her tumultuous history over the years.
Mindy McCready was born on November 30, 1975, in Fort Myers, Florida. McCready first sang at the age of 3 in her local Pentecostal church. At the age of 9, she began training for the opera. Not certain about what the future holds, she later decided that she preferred the kind of country singing she'd learned from karaoke tapes of Trisha Yearwood and Reba McEntire.
In 1996, Her first album, Ten Thousand Angels, was released, gaining public approval and spawned four hit singles, including the chart-topping 'Guys, Do It All the Time.' The album was certified double platinum and soon McCready was headlining concerts alongside country music legends like George Strait and Tim McGraw.
Her songs are well known for her powerful Alto key and inspiring lyrics. She said, 'All my songs are tunes that women will want to listen to and say, 'Yes, sister!' her songs preached about women being submissive to their man. But only if he's a good guy!
McCready dropped another album following her hit country music album 'Ten Thousand Angels', debut with 1997's If I Don't Stay the Night, which was certified gold, and 1999's she dropped another record, 'I'm Not So Tough', this however, did not gain much public approval. When she released her third album, McCready signed with Capitol Records and released her 2002 album, Mindy McCready. The album again did not gain public approval and McCready immediately dropped from Capitol.
Growing up, she faced a lot of challenges. In August 2004, she was arrested for using fake prescriptions to get a narcotic painkillers, oxycontin. McCready initially pleaded not guilty to the charges, she later pleaded guilty and was sentenced to fine and three years probation.
Series on unlawful events took place afterwards. In May 2005, she was arrested again, she was reported to be spotted driving under the influence of alcohol with no registered driver's license. On the same month, Mindy McCready's boyfriend Billy McKnight was arrested and accused of attempted murder after severely beating and choking her. McCready stated that he (McKnight) had beat her several times in the past.
The state of Tennessee issued restraining orders against both McKnight and McCready— McKnight was denied entry into the state and McCready was denied exit from the state. But McCready was quick to violated her restraining order by visiting McKnight in Florida. She was also charged with identity theft in Arizona, July 2005. As well as attempted suicide by overdose on antidepressants in September 2005.
After surviving two self-inflicted life claiming events, McCready credited professed her love for McKnight by stating in a public appearance how he (McKnight) saved her life. 'I loved him,' she said. 'I just loved him. I missed him terribly even though he did terrible things to me.
McCready and McKnight eventually got back together and McCready became pregnant with a baby boy. While she was pregnant with McKnight's child in September 2005, she attempted suicide again by overdosing on antidepressants, she appeared to be going through a lot of challenges in her career at this time. She was however taken to the hospital in time, saving both mother and child. In March 2006, McCready gave birth to a son, Zander Ryan McCready.
On December 17 2008, paramedics were informed about an incident at McCready's Nashville home after an apparent suicide attempt— they transported her to a hospital after finding wounds on her wrists.
In April 2007, a long term relationship between McCready and Roger Clemens rekindled. However, Clemens' attorney Rusty Hardin denied the affair, threatening to file a lawsuit about the false allegations on his client. Clemens' attorney however admitted that a relationship existed between McCready and Clemens' family, but he explained that she was only a family friend. He did not fail to inform the public that McCready had travelled in Clemens' private jet but he however stated that Clemens' wife was informed about the trip. Clemens issued a statement saying only 'I have made mistakes in my personal life for which I am sorry. McCready described the relationship as being sexual in nature.
Being a mother of two, McCready not only experienced difficulty in her career, she also had lots of relationship issues, leading to the birth of her two sons.
Although she had been saved a couple of times from the clutches of death, saving her was practically impossible when she was found dead on the porch of her home in the rural town of Heber Springs, Arkansas, the result of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. She died at the age of 37.
