Thoughts On The Creativity And Ingenuity Of Literary Authors
When it comes to writing stories, authors tend to have a plan on what type of plot they want to add onto their stories. Authors may choose to include any one of the seven plots. However, authors may find the categorization of plots limiting their extensive creativity in creating new stories with plots that extends beyond the seven plots. There are many ways of how authors may find it limiting to them. There is a need for authors to create unique stories. Stories that’ll perhaps bring impact into someone else’s lives.
The book industry is tough and there is no doubt a need for authors to attract readers. Authors normally include a message behind their stories. Most readers are intrigued with stories written with a good message behind it regardless of genres or even plots. Every author create different stories with no similar plots. Authors are unique in many ways and they are creative, especially when they want to think of a plot for their stories.
According to ‘The Seven Basic Plots’ by Christopher Booker, there are seven plot types that includes overcoming the monster, rags to riches, the quest, voyage and return, comedy, tragedy and rebirth. Most authors have their stories in novels created into a movie. One example includes the Harry Potter novel series by J.K. Rowling. Her story plot for Harry Potter can be classified as the quest plot type. Some of the movies we’ve seen have stories with plot types that can be classified as one of the seven plot types. Other examples include the Divergent novel series by Veronica Roth. Her story plot for Divergent can be classified as the quest as well as tragedy.
The authors of novels, magazine articles, newspaper articles, etc. may feel that plots of their stories that they worked hard for may not be as beneficial as they thought. Perhaps they were achieving goals of their readers whether it is to help others to cope with depression, entertain when bored or escaping reality. Authors may feel discouraged because they ran out of ideas in order to expand their creativity skills. Overall the seven plot types mentioned may cause problems for the authors.
The readers enjoy reading stories with interesting and unique plots. They expect alot from authors. Readers may get bored when reading the different books with cliche story plots as well. There’s no clue as to whether famous authors would give up their careers because they couldn’t think of a unique story plot. However, there are authors who aspire to become the best they can be and persevere. Thus, that is what most readers expect from authors. Readers see authors full with creativity and full of inspirations. Authors have become our role models who inspires readers every single time flipping through a page of a novel. All authors deserve all of the recognition that they want. Despite writing skills and vast imagination, authors can create stories that will continuously entertain readers to an extent that there will be no specific amount of story plot types.
