The Spark Of Rosa Parks

Back then Rosa Parks was perceived as just another African American woman, but now people know she is so much more than that. Rosa Parks was a civil rights activist and an equal rights influencer. Rosa Parks was is well known for being the first African American to refuse to give up her seat to a white man on a segregated bus, but that is not all Rosa Parks has done. This incredible woman has helped organize the defense of the Scottsboro boys, she served as a secretary to Edgar Nixon in the Montgomery division of NAACP, she played a leading role in mobilizing people to support Recy Taylor, and she co-founded the Rosa and Raymond Parks Institute for self-development.

Rosa Parks started her career as a human rights activist by opposing unfair/unjust treatment against African Americans. The first major case Mr. Parks had was to organize a defense for the Scottsboro Boys. The Scottsboro Boys were nine African American teenagers that were falsely accused of the rape of two white women. Even though there was clear evidence that the boys did not commit the crime; four of the defendants were convicted of rape, and seven of them served time in prison. Rosa Parks was part of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored(NAACP) it was one of the best African American civil rights organizations of its time. During her time as a member of the NAACP she used networks she created during the Scottsboro case to help defend African American woman from sexual assaults committed by white men. Recy Taylor was an African American woman who was kidnapped and raped. Rosa Parks spread awareness with Recy Taylor's story; She created the committee, which was the spark for the African American civil rights movement. Even though the men pleaded guilty there were no charges filed against them. Most people know Rosa Parks as the woman who refused to give up her seat on the Montgomery bus. When Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat; she was arrested and charged with violating the segregation laws. When people heard of Rosa Park's arrest; they got inspired to boycott the cities bus services. This is known as the Montgomery Bus Boycott; it was seen as the first large-scale demonstration against segregation in America. Among all of that Rosa Parks and her husband Raymond Parks opened a scholarship foundation which rewards Michigan high school seniors; the foundation which rewards Michigan high school seniors; the foundation has given about two million dollars too almost one thousand students. Rosa Parks and Raymond Parks also opened an institute for self-development which teaches kids multiple topics such as pathways to freedom which covers African American struggles dating back to slavery until now.

Rosa Parks was an African American woman, which was the lowest of the low at the time; she had absolutely no rights. Even though Rosa Parks had no voice; she still had the courage to stand up against the injustice in her country. She knew all the consequences and what that would mean for her, yet she still broke the law which ended up changing America for the better. Rosa Parks was able to accomplish making this country a more equal place by being resistant. She refused to surrender to the cruel and unfair laws. Her defiant spirit and her drive pushed her to be the person that stands up, the person that sets an example for others, the person that shows the world that change is unstoppable and that everyone should try to make a difference if they do not agree with something. Rosa Parks showed the world that her people have the right to equality and that just because two people look different that does not make one person inferior to another. Rosa Parks thought the world that at the end of the day we are all human, and we should be judged based on who we are on the inside and not the outside.

Without Rosa Parks’s sacrifice for the freedom of her people the world today would not be the same. When Rosa Parks was arrested she caused an uprising. She inspired hundreds of people to fight for equal rights and to this day she inspires people to fight for equal rights. Rosa Parks paved the way for equal rights. Without Rosa Parks we would not have a role model or someone to look up to that represents not having any power, voice, or respect but still changing the lives of millions standing or in this case sitting alone. Rosa Parks changed the course of this nation and millions of lives. Before Rosa Parks, people had no one to look up to, and no one to inspire them to fight for something better. Rosa Parks was the mother of the civil rights movement and rightfully so she did so much for this nation, which is why we need to remember who she was and what she did for this country. Rosa Parks has had a large impact on our history, without her the modern-day would not be the same. The people of America have Rosa Parks to thank for shaping this country into a better and more equal place for every race and gender.
