The Problems Of Upbringing Children

Growing up is shown with the two children Jem and Scout who has roughly a three-year age difference, this makes Jem much more perceptive than Scout. Leaving of the presents in the tree spikes a curiosity, Jem stares into abyss thinking about how he thinks Boo is trying to connect with him. In the children's' wonderful world, Boo Radley is still their distinct obsession. Jem's lie to Atticus demonstrates a little evil rise in Jem which shows that even though he believes he’s an adult, he is still an irresponsible child. Presents were put in a tree hole they believe it’s from Boo and this pikes his obsession with him.

Prejudice is treating everyone with respect and that is exactly what Miss Maudie and Atticus teach the kids. Miss Maudie explains that we all see Boo as evil a monster then she turns and says he’s just a human who is damaged due to his father’s intolerance and lack of any care and love. Prejudice is also shown when Atticus gives the fatherly lecture about how mistreating people because they are different is completely and utterly wrong. Ultimately he tells them that you need to respect them whether they seem odd, different race etc. Courage to do wrong is also shown as a key here because they purposefully want to bring out Boo so they try to drop a note in his window. Atticus makes sure that his kids know that respecting all is really important whether of the religious, race etc.

Despite all kids love an adventure and rebellion and through this chapter we see Jem and Dill along with Scout go to take a peek into the mysterious Mr. Radley’s home. We see a lot of Courage in the children to make such a leap from touching the house too going to the window to take a peep in this shows a lot of courage from just a few kids. Even though they’re showing Courage to do wrong their curiosity takes a major tall on them. Growing up in a small town, it is described that kids will do whatever they can to have a little adventure or find new ways to have fun and that is portrayed most definitely through this chapter. All the kids went to the Radley house to take a peek into the Radley house, but they hear gunshots and bolt in the process Jem loses his pants.

The evil boo has taking its toll on Jem after that scary night that shocked fear into the body of Jem, after that night when Jem goes back to retrieve his pants he sees that someone has mended and folded them, Is Boo really a monster? Boo may be good after all just trying to communicate with Jem through gifts and Jem tries to communicate with him also. Growing up could also mean maturing and we see that in Jem, he demonstrated sympathy for Boo and Boos best efforts which have been blocked, while scout hasn’t grown up as much yet still isn’t understanding who is leaving the gifts.

Boo tries to communicate with Jem but when he tries to talk back Nathan Radley cements the tree, Scout hates 2nd grade as much as 1st and still doesn’t understand whos talking behind the tree. Atticus has a lot of respect for the people around him, when we see that the snowman resembles a grumpy, brittle neighbor, Atticus while impressed asks them to change it to make sure they don’t offend anyone which shows good human dignity Maycomb everyone helps everyone but the fire that occurred ended the innocence and Maycomb and brought out a pinch of darkness/evil. Jem sees Boo as good and not evil as he strives to do acts of protective resemblances on Scout when he gives her a warm blanket they now see as Boo as good.

It’s snowing in Macomb and heating is up but there is a mystery fire and we see Boo protect scout by giving her a blanket indirectly. Jem and scout are exposed to a lot of Prejudice which they start to see is a big part of Maycomb as the love and kindness they usually see. Atticus teaches always about Courage and tolerance, he doesn’t stop fighting for the rights of others and for what is right and he doesn’t stop thinking about others either. The Prejudice against the darker race aka Blacks in Maycomb this is very strongly bonded that even his only family members start to blame Atticus for defending a colored man like Tom. Uncle Jack learns a few lessons about respect and the essence of Human dignity that Scout is still learning. Scout was punished without Uncle Jack stepping her shoes for the minute, he didn’t know shed acted in the ways of good. Atticus now has a deeper understanding of how prejudice can distort many people.

Prejudice was key while Atticus defends a coloured man and his children cop the punishment. In this world we have two things Good and Evil which is rather simply we see Mockingbirds as a sign of the little good things we have that may be shedding some light and good on the world. The title of this book is “To Kill a Mockingbird” and a Mockingbird is a symbol of pureness and Innocence which is evident in the novel thus far. People who are in the novel can be a mockingbird if they have the character traits of being innocent and or being pure. We also see a lot of growth in the character, maturity they are growing up and we see this in Jem who is growing up much faster than his sister Scout. When Atticus shoots the dog and is known as the town's best shot, Scout just wants to boast but Jem understands that Courage and Integrity are about more than pride but service and modesty.

Scout and Jem feel embarrassed because of their father age, he seems old but when a ragged dog comes out onto the road and Atticus shoots him down, Scout has the belief he's cool afterall. We see Jem who can’t control his anger and loses it by ripping out Mrs. Dubose’s flowers, revealing that maybe Jem isn’t so grown up after all. Atticus finds a way to teach his kids a resourceful lesson about human dignity and having courage. He teaches his kids through Mrs. Dubose and her ongoing battle with her addiction, morphine. While Mrs. Dubose shows a lot of prejudice but she is also a very courageous human being who fights a battle against morphine which has gone on for a while but she continuous to fight even though it’s a lost cause. Atticus teaches the true meaning behind courage isn’t about how you use a gun or your mightiness but how you defend your beliefs and make a difference. Mrs Dubose has strong opinion on blacks and Jem is enraged so he pulls out her flowers then has too read too her she dies shortly after because of her addiction btu she is found as courageous due to her fight.
