The Indifference That Media Exhibits

The ignorance the society exhibits with much pride through the mass oppression of the lower, downtrodden class of people. Silence in this case stands for every vital subject left ignored by the society.

As we travel through the complexities of life we come to an understanding that there is much more to the eye than what we perceive to be globalised as the universal truth. We as humans believe most of the things that the media showcases under the lime light which is mainly influenced by profit earning and the global norms of wealth. The main concern for the media houses these days is to increase the TRP (Television Rating Points) rather than broadcasting the necessary. The news agencies have been converted into money making consoles by the authority figures and have been used by them from time to time for their selfish motives and benefits. The media is more oriented towards the subject matter people want but not necessarily need. This feature is dedicated to the cases unattended by the society sheltered in the shadow which the media’s limelight has created.

The media even though it has a limited coverage, has enormous power to control, manipulate, develop storylines, regressing the society’s problems and how it can set standards for the young which strays us away from the actual purpose in life. The media has invaded the minds of the people and has given way for a more ignorant society where people are afraid to report the problems they are facing at times destroy the identity of an individual, for example sexual harassment faced by both men and women, out which only a percent is shown on media. It has been noticed that trivial subjects of celebrities are more given concern to than the basic survival rights of the down trodden and the minority. We as citizens, humans with intellect must review and question the source and credibility of the media we receive, we as men and women must be more aware and sceptic about the situations happening around the world that has an indirect effect on us instead of blindly following it.

The metropolitan city of Karnataka, India is overly glorified on the media revealing the genuine brightness and lush of the city while completely giving a blind eye to its problems and the inappropriateness of development across districts. Bangalore unlike any city has its problems but the positives are used as click bait to the mainstream. While the media shows glamorises the city life, the wealth, the infrastructure but I as a current resident of Bangalore have experienced rock bottom, underdevelopment, Poverty, unemployment, food poisoning, immoral prejudice, sexual harassment, crime, corruption, child labour, population hikes, money crisis, pollution, resource crisis, border riots and so on. The effect of time hasn’t worked on the downtrodden areas of Bangalore, people are still adopting old school methods of ideals and beliefs that are in a way hindering a more liberalised thought process. The streets are dirty covered in filth, the people are starving, corruption is hindering the smooth movement of the government, the mass molestation is slowly being overlooked by the government, the safest of districts are unsafe, the subdued dreams of millions of children still working under harsh conditions, the population hikes creating a lot of disparities in the available resources, the quality of food is overlooked, even though Bangalore boasts to be an it city it still suffers from unemployment.
