The main characters are Jack Worthing, Algernon Moncrieff, Gwendolen, Cecily Cardew and lady Bracknell. Jack is a young man residing within the country together with his ward Cecily Cardew. He has created a brother called Ernest who is living in the city and whom he has to visit oftentimes. Jack is in love with Gwendolen. Algernon is in love with Cecily Jack ANd Gwendolen both care for each other. However lady Bracknell opposes their wedding, she thinks that Jack is an orphan found in a handbag at the Victoria station. Ultimately, it acknowledged that Jack is lady Bracknell’s nephew and his original name is Ernest and Algernon truly is his brother. The play finishes with each couples being united happily.
