In African countries, sweatshop tends to arise culminating to the threshold of independent people. Children as young as five to twelve are employed since the embodied families are not able to educate their children. Underdeveloped countries do not neither actualize health nor education. This leads to different cases of death prompting the young ones to look for jobs. Unemployment causes poverty leading to bad debts and lowering economy. Women have historically been offered an escape hatch as compared to traditional gender roles. Young women travelled to United States and Europe from their impoverished nations during industrial revolution. They flew to work at the factories in cities and earn a living. Women enjoy spending while earning their own money. Most of them call it quits after they are married.

In early days, China viewed women working in factories as a bad reputation. This, however changed as the so called “factory girls” mostly enjoy long term participation force and social mobility opportunity. The environment has created jobs that allow young ladies to work during daytime and study at night. The economy has enormously grown in china as there are a lot of exports done globally products from sweatshop factories.

Even though the commercial Revolution is generally vilified, it turned into a critical first step closer to growing ladies’ socio-economic mobility and in the long run delivered about impossible prosperity inside the pre-industrial international. The tempo of industrial monetary improvement might also even be rushing up. In South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore, the system of moving from sweatshops to First global dwelling requirements took less than generations in place of a century within the united states.

Nowadays, manufacturing unit work across the developing international maintains to serve as a course out of poverty. Additionally, with unique blessings for women searching for monetary independence they get away from agricultural drudgery. In China, very few select to return to subsistence farming. Many women begin their own small businesses or move on from factories to white-collar careers. In poorer Bangladesh, manufacturing facility work has expanded girls’ educational attainment whilst reducing quotes of infant marriage.

The united states of America’s garment industry have also softened the norm of purdah or seclusion that historically avoided girls from working or maybe on foot outdoor unaccompanied by using a male guardian. “Sweatshops are not restricted to factories. Agricultural workers all over the world are subject to poor working conditions, low wages, and unhealthy working environments. Women make up a large portion of field workers. They are exposed to toxic pesticides and strenuous working conditions that lead to several health problems” (Co-op America, 2001).

However, sweatshops also have an adverse effect on their employees as they are many disadvantages. This includes exploitation of employees. Employees are exploited to work long hours without an additional pay (Collier, 1999). Some employees turn to work for more than 15 hours yet the constitution states one should work for 8 hours. Additionally, their wages are not in effect however they work for the 15 hours. Other working environs are not conducive. This emanates from air conditioning, garbage collection, and cleanliness of the workplace, poor equipment to work with and lack of emergency handovers. Due to lack of an alternative job, sweatshops tend to bully their employees disregarding their rights. Other sweatshop violates human rights by denying their employees basic needs.

In conclusion, sweatshops are helpful to economic growth. They assist many young women to be independent and self motivated. Sweatshops do not lower the costs to the consumers but later keep at bay with needed products. Women should be empowered to know their human rights to exclude themselves from being exploited. Companies should adhere to good working conditions and give good incentives to their workers. Government should continue embracing sweatshops creating employment to many, but they should monitor them by giving strict rules for rights to the employee by the employer.
