Reading Entertainment Books Is A Waste Of Time
Guardians prefer their progenies to only study educational manuals over any amusement reading material, as they believe that the latter is just a waste of time. However, in my opinion, they should be allowed to read some interesting content as well, as books surely have much more content of various experiences which can be beneficial in enormous ways and is not limited to only educational content. Parents usually restrict their offsprings to learn only academic knowledge which they believe is the only useful time spent through reading. Undoubtedly, education is the primary purpose for teenagers.
However, reading books can also be the most resourceful activity to learn various experiences and life skills which can boost personality development of children. Reading in itself is a skill which enhances perception abilities of a person, irrespective of the genre of the books. Entertainment books like novels, autobiographies, documentries, fiction may develop reading interests of a person and can also be a leisurely activity for any individual and hence a great source of airing the mind. The most preferred communication skill in a professional life is reading and writing and it has been inferred from various surveys also that people who have reading as their favourite hobbies are comparatively better communicators with great level of vocabulary and language abilities. Reading life experiences may also inculcate real life lessons. On a personal note, I have been reading 'Wings of Fire' which is the renowned autobiography of A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, the former President of India. He very impressively described his various stages of life, how he fought through his own life barriers to finally lead the whole country and also contributing his experiences in NASA.
After the read, anyone will get inspired and motivated to deal with various hardships of life and persevare through real life challenges to meet life objectives. Another example is the most popular Harry Potter series, which is pure fiction based, may develop imaginary and creativity skills in a child. Hence, books can surely contribute in hollistic development of a person also. To contemplate my views on the topic, Iwould like to assert that parents should not restrict their children to read only educational books. As said that knowledge is power, this term is not limited for education only but the paradigm of knowledge is way beyond education. Practice of reading various types of books can always be a great source of entertainment and development of personality of a person and I hope to see a positive change in this belief of progenitors through more awareness.
