Introduction

Have you ever been discriminated against in the workplace? If you do not then, then the company has done a fine job in enforcing the fundamental principles for equal treatment in the workforce. Nevertheless, other bosses or executives have become racially biased to co-workers in West Palm Beach. West Palm Beach is a community in the county of Palm Beach County, Florida. West Palm Beach is situated west of the nearby Palm Beach. Moreover, there is a barrier island built spanning Lake Worth Lagoon.

The government is representing the nation and what it stands for. But the immoral conduct of government officials is rather arrogant and scandalous. It would not be that scandalous, coming from a small private company, but racially discrimination is never right, whether it is from the private sector or the government. In this essay, I will inform you about some cases that happened in West Palm Beach and how to stop racial discrimination in the workplace.

Slavery ended several years ago, but people continue to use racist stereotypes to mock other races. Most blacks have not been able to leave slavery in the past because individuals today still call black Americans slurs. Therefore, I agree that everyone should feel confident in their work environment. No one will label the others by derogatory terms because you are breaking the rules anytime you mark someone using ethnic slurs.

Green worked at the City's Waste Water Plant for almost three years. In the lawsuit filed in 2014 against the city, Green charges that on or around January 18, 2012, supervisor Bonnie Kemp, used an insulting derogatory slur amid the complainant and Gerry Willis referring to both as 'black monkeys.' The boss was fired, and he was later reinstated. However, Green will no longer be able to work or serve with the city in the future as part of the mediation deal.

According to the Palm Beach Post, Straub, one of Wellington’s largest landowners in Florida, said that if he was forced to open up his golf course to the public, “You’re not going to like the black people who come in here, the Hispanics.”

Wellington’s nuisance vegetation rules were changing because of the grass height. Straub was opposing the changes because it would affect the village's land management requirements. Straub reacted to the accusation. He said that he was not racist and that the message was misinterpreted. Straub goes on to state that the West Palm Beach community and residents protested ruthlessly. They lodge violations of the Code and litigation. He considers the behavior of the people discriminatory.

He then stated that black and Hispanic people who play soccer on Sundays, will not like him opening his private country club golf course to the public. Nonetheless, he withdraws his assertion and accuses the residents of being racist. I think if he did not agree with the people, he would not make those remarks.

Factors on How to Get Rid of Discrimination in the Workplace and Communities

According to John D. Skrentny, the race is now relevant not only in negative cases of discrimination but in more positive ways as well. Many organizations use race in positive ways to create diversity. To combat inequality in the workforce, businesses need to enhance diversity to create an inclusive atmosphere. For example, every February, several companies host a month of Black History.

Another way to stop racial discrimination in the workplace is by creating a safe space for difficult conversations. Team members feel comfortable thinking frankly about discrimination and discussing how latent racial inequality harms their decisions; these discussions have a longer positive and meaningful impact. Individuals frequently are frightened to say anything since they stress that in case, they say anything off-base, they might get terminated. Additionally, it is critical to forming a space where individuals feel secure to have legitimate discussions where no one feels singled out or isolated.

According to Fleras Augie, racism is not disappearing, despite claims of living in a post-racial and multicultural world. Many still experience racial discrimination, even if they live in a multiracial city. According to Data U.S.A., West Palm Beach, Florida, is composed of 41.4k White Alone residents (38.7%), 35.8k Black, or African American Alone residents (33.5%), 24.6k Hispanic residents (23%).

Racial inequality in the United States sees children of various races and nationalities segregated into communities with broadly unequal wealth and social benefits. To attempt to pursue racial equality, we need to deal with racism and the unfair conditions it has created.

To combat segregation in cities, politicians need to engage in measures to implement current anti-discrimination policies and eliminate inequality that exists in the real estate market. Policymakers should also guarantee that zoning does not perpetuate segregated patterns.

Property-use laws that restrict big multi-family buildings, such as large-scale zoning and historic districts, are typical perpetrators. Inclusive planning regulations and opportunities to promote growth around transportation centers may be powerful strategies to add more mobility to areas where more improvements to the zoning code may be impractical. Second, municipal authorities provide resources to make the Housing Preference Voucher system live up to its reputation.

Conclusion

Overall, many people experienced discrimination almost every day. However, these complaints are decreasing over the years. For this reason, we can see a change in the work environment and in communities. Moreover, many people are following the law, which is the VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Nevertheless, if people be mindful of what they say to others and understand the history of their race, heritage, and religion, employees and residents will live in a healthier atmosphere. There are 47 million documented immigrants in the United States of America. As a result, the U.S. is a remarkably diverse country, yet there's discrimination in this country. West Palm Beach is an incredibly beautiful city with a lot of opportunities. We do not want to distract tourists with racial accusations when they can experience the great qualities of the city.

Furthermore, creating a safe space for workers and even residents to talk about racism, many people will have an understanding. Besides, they will know what to say and what not to say. Black history is very vital in an organization to show appreciation. Moreover, other races will learn the history of Black history month and what it signifies. Lastly, when everyone put race aside and focus on working together, there will be a big improvement in their organization, and it will become more diverse.
