Finding Myself Was Easier Said Than Done

When it came to finding myself, so many people probably have been in my position at one point or another. You get down, you get out and you have a hard time picking yourself back up off the ground. This can be tough and if you have no one there then you might find yourself wondering how you could move forward again.

I struggled for the longest time with mental health issues and drug use, and due to this, I found that I lost a lot of people, including myself, in the journey that took me down a dark hole. This hole is one that everyone might find themselves going down, even if it is not because of the same situation as mine. There are people there for you and they might not be who you think.

A Little Bit of Back Story

When it comes to my back story, I did have a family, a big family. When it came to getting help from any of them, they were always there. However, this is something that seemed like a smoke curtain. Simply because when I ended up failing, falling down and needing help, they had a hard time pulling me back up.

When I needed someone and those close to me were not able to provide me the support and help that I needed, I had to reach out in other areas and to other people. I needed to pick myself back up and not rely on those who are around me to do the job that needs to be done because when you rely on others, they might let you down.

My family lifted me up and I thought that they would be there throughout thick and thin, but in reality, a lot of what happened was because of those that I met along in my journey. Never judge a book by their cover and when you need help, reach out to those for help, let them know that you need this help and you need a bit of a pick me up.

Even alone, you don’t have to struggle.

There Was a Second Chance

Even without the help that I thought I had, I was still able to pick myself up. I found hope and help in a different, unexpected place, which anyone can get if you are able to admit to yourself that you need to do something about what you’re going through.

When you admit to yourself that you need help with what you are going through and can find that help out there, you shouldn’t have any issues being able to get that second chance.

It doesn’t have to be tough to ask for help, but it is. It shouldn’t feel impossible, but to some, it does. Keep in mind, whatever you’re struggling with or dealing with is not something that has to hold you down. It can be something that helps you get through what you’re dealing with. It is a push in the right direction to get you on the right path.

I found that those that I didn’t know very well were there when I was down and needed them the most. These people I didn’t think would help me or care since my family wasn’t there while I was struggling, were there. There is hope and there are brighter days for everyone, regardless of what you are struggling with.

You can get through it.

I was able to do this with help from a drug rehab that understood my needs and knew that I needed much more than what was offered to me.
