These are some of the common problems in the Life Cycle that each individual may come across at one point of their life, when in counselling there are people or patients who come to you as counsellor these are some of the problems that patients may come to you to help them with. Depression self-harming and suicidal depression is a psychological state of feeling in a person that makes him or she feel down. Self-harming may occur due to depression when a person is dealing with difficult issues like anxiety and stress in life are mostly likely lead people to commit suicide. This three factors of psychological behavior are related to each other in terms of human behavior towards the environment and human beings itself.

This issues are very vital many people come across to but are afraid to share their feeling and emotion with the people around which in turn makes them feel depressed and stressed which leads them to self-harm and committing suicide (GoodTherapy. org Staff, 2014). Depression- is a state of feeling that a person goes through like, sadness, loss of interest in any other activities in daily life situation. “According to the World Health Organization (WHO), depression is the most common illness worldwide and the leading cause of disability. They estimate that 350 million people are affected by depression, globally (MacGill, 2017 ). ” Para-Suicide – Para-suicide refers to suicide attempts or gestures and self-harm where there is no result in death. It is a non-fatal act in which a person deliberately causes injury to him or herself or ingests any prescribed or generally recognized therapeutic dose in excess. Also known as self-harming or inflicting wounds which people use sharp objects to hurt or cut themselves which they think that is the way that they can run away from pain. Other forms include behavior such as burning, scratching, or hitting body parts. While older definitions included behavior such as interfering with wound healing, excessive skin picking. The most common form of self-harm is using a sharp object to cut one's skin. Suicide - Suicide is the act of taking away your own life by committing suicide by creating or staging one’s own death. Suicide comes in ten different forms but the most commonly associated with suicidal cases are as follows have

  1. Hanging
  2. Drug / Alcohol Overdose
  3. Gun Shot

Rational Emotional Behavioral Therapy

REBT method or application form in counseling is appropriate to cover the three psychological disorders within in a wide range of setting and populations, including elementary and secondary Schools. REBT’s main focus or aim is to helping clients change their irrational beliefs. This method can apply and be implemented to address the three named above social issues that certain individuals may tend to face. There are many different types of techniques that can be practical in addressing these psychological disorders (Corey, 2004).

Techniques:ABC method which mainly tries to help assist the counsellor address the client’s problem. This method has been formulated to overcome these psychological disorder, its belief is to change the perception of how one [the client] see himself/herself, others around the client and how the client see’s the world from a personal point of view. The ABC method was developed by Albert Ellis, the A stands for Antecedent which refers to the situation or incident that happened or triggered the response, B stands for Beliefs which refers to the client’s thoughts or interpretation of the event or situation and C stands for Consequences which relates to how we feel or behave as a result of the Situation or event that happened.

In Summary by using the ABC method in counselling it helps in addressing depression which in turn may stop or change the course of any certain individual who due to depression may have or think suicidal thoughts by using this particular method. It is the evaluation of the event not the activating event itself that causes the emotional consequence. We are largely responsible for creating our emotional consequence. We are largely responsible for creating our emotional disturbances through beliefs we associate with the events of our lives. By attaining a more rational evaluation of ourselves, others and the world, we are more likely to behave and emote in a more life-serving and adaptive way (Corey, 2004).
