Some comparison and contrast about these two poems, the Raven is about a man that lost his wife, and a raven flies to his window. The Raven continuously sits there as he responds,' nevermore.' The raven haunts the man as it is a symbol of his wife's memory. On the other hand,' Annabel Lee'' is a poem about edgar allan poe who is obsessed with a women that could or could not even love him the way he loves her.
Some differences between the two poems is that both narrators handle sorrow differently, and their setting are very different from eachother. Even though they are very different, they also have some simularties. For example, both narrators lose someone very close to them. The narrators in these poems handle grief very differently when they lose their loved ones. In Annabel Lee when Annabel died the narrator lies down with her in her tomb. In The Raven the narrator handles grief very differently than in Annabel Lee. When the narrator's wife dies the raven flies into his room, for the raven is a symbol of his wife's memory.
The poems also takes place in different settings. In the setting of The Raven, it is on a dark dreary night, and it is also taking place in his chamber. The narrator explains,' Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary... Back into the chamber turning, all my soul within me burning.' The poem “raven” takes place in a chamber on a very late, dreary night. In Annabel Lee,' the setting is seen as a fairy-tale like place to the narrator, and it also takes place by the sea. In' The Raven the narrator's wife, Lenore, dies. The author states, ' From my books surcease of sorrow- sorrow for the loss of Lenore.'
In the Raven and Annabel Lee the narrator's handle greif very diffrently after their loved ones die. Eventhough they have plenty of and a few similarties, they both were well written poems by Egar Alla Poe.
These two peots are alike for many reasons but they are different for a lot but i think they are more alike than different they have so many of the same figurative language is them both. They are all worded different and have different rhyme schemes for them like for example for the “Raven” the rhye scheme is abcbbb and the rhyme scheme for “Annabel Lee” is ababcb. Another similarity between the two poems is that they are both about loved ones and death to their loved ones. The meaning of these two poems is the same it follows the same theme as the allegation of poetry in his article or 'Melanco theme'. The author uses the image to create a sense of eternal love I can.
How the two poems are different is the poem the Raven the author does not find comfort but is the poem Annabel Lee the author does find comfort is the angels and demons and devils. Is the Raven the author shows more depressed feeling than he does happy comforting feeling and in the poem Annabel Lee the author is more happy and comfortable with the idea of the angels taking his loved one.
