Analysis of Propaganda: Hitler Portrayed by Nazi and State Owned Media
The term propaganda means it is a form of persuasion that is often used in media to promote some sort of agenda, such as a personal, political or business agenda. It is especially used by politicians who make false claims to get elected or to spread rumors to get their way. Adolf Hitler was the leader of the National Socialist or Nazi Party and Chancellor of Nazi Germany from 1933 to 1945. Hitler has been signified in popular culture ever since he turns out to be a well-known politician in Germany.
Nazi party used propaganda to build up their influence in Germany and to create a deep hatred among German against the Jews. He emphasized on creating a “national community” and killed six million Jews during the Holocaust. He always reminded the people of the unfair that happened to Germany with the Treaty of Versailles, influencing more support in the war and memberships in his army. His successful propagandas ultimately led to the outbreak on Poland and the establishment of WWII.
President Hindenburg appointed Hitler as the chancellor and he was recognized the Reichstag Ministry of Public explanation and Propaganda as a measure to clean information given to the public. Through this ministry, he takes power to control all kinds of German media: newspaper, radio, television, art, and books. Jewish-owned publishing companies were also seized to expose Aryan community and control Jews from freedom of air. Any opinions against Hitler and his Nazi party, their morals were changed from all media. The state media permitted only praises and overestimated Hitler’s rule and his activities. The media also forced hatred idea against Jews, homosexuals, disabled people and anyone against his influence.
In 1933, he passed Nutrition Estates Law under which farmers and the landlord had given importance synthetic products like; wool, rubber and petrol and he also reduced dependence on foreign countries. The plan of study in schools introduced books that taught faithfulness to Hitler and his party, and about anti-Semitism. Radio was the main source of communication by Nazi the German people, television was another source of Nazi. The Nazi’s speeches were transmitted and videos were displayed on television. Radio and television was acceptable to use by German people to reach information to the party.
How was Hitler portrayed by the world media? The world media diverse from broadcasting the Hitler and his tricks not carefully, then bringing him in the first page of the news. The exposure of news during those years was forbidden and the media of American especially stressed on his previously pursuing an inventive career.

Hitler was underestimated by comparing him with Mussolini, His trustworthiness was put to question because the media knew he was an Austrian by birth and he was not entirely German as said. His career as artist failed because there was lack of good support, military failure, and his infamous deeds. The universal media took the confessions of him about his plans and intentions selfishly, but little did they know that he was not pretend.
For the duration of his trail periods, Hitler used all the evidences of him to allocate his political aims, being aware that people came in to pay attention to the actions to the proceeding. He used this stand to gather his supporters and it became the news in so many diverse world presses, with the press telling him as influential, a powerful manager and praising his exaggerated abilities, he soon gained popularity in the world.
American media covered the private life of Hitler more than his official life. It was because Hitler’s incidence in the political, Germany gave in to the possibility of endangering the Weimar Republic’s constancy. He was given the promotion because of his influence in fast popular support and affairs and his political hard work and the growing power.
Overall, the distant press corporation of Nazi Germany faced challenges in collecting news, they were either exposed by the rule or the sources were not ready to report anything which was beside the rule. In few weeks event, Germany had lost its sovereignty of press, words and gathering.
