There are many circumstances where Atticus is portrayed as considerate. “You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view - until you climb into his skin and walk around in it,” (Lee 39). Here, Atticus is saying that we should not judge other people if we have not experienced what they have been through. He knows it is right to be unassuming. “Simply because we were licked a hundred years before we started is no reason for us not to try to win,” (Lee 101). Speaking about his case with Tom Robinson, Atticus is stating that it would not be right for him to give up. Even though he believes there is no chance of victory he must still fight for Tom. Atticus is facing a situation that he may not be able to prosper in, but he knows that he must still do the right thing. These two quotes directly capture how Atticus is an exceptional father, because the quotes were things he had said to his children.

Atticus Finch is quite the generous person too, “During the first five years in Maycomb, Atticus practiced economy more than anything; for several years thereafter he invested his earnings in his brother’s education,” (Lee 5). Atticus is a unselfish man, because he paid for his brother to start medical school. Not only does Tom and Atticus’ brother know of his amiable character, but so do the townspeople, “Mr. Finch is always courteous to everybody,” (Lee 243), this was said by Judge Taylor, demonstrating how Atticus is polite to people. They also have trust in Atticus, “Whether Maycomb knows it or not: we’re paying the highest tribute we can pay a man. We trust him to do right,” (Lee 316). Miss Maudie expresses that the people of Maycomb know that Atticus is reliable, because he stands up for what is right. It is great that Atticus is accepted by his usual society, but he is also approved by the African American community as well, “Miss Jean Louise, stand up. Your father’s passin,” (Lee 283). This was Reverend Sykes announcing that Atticus Finch is thought highly of in their community. He has earned their respect by defending Tom Robinson so well and this is a big deal because they have been betrayed and deceived by whites most likely their whole lives.

The passionate man always has the best in mind for people. Atticus being the town lawyer, tries to do what is best for his clients, even if they don’t listen to him. He unfailingly has the best interest of others at heart. He tries to do the right thing, no matter what. “He was out of his mind,” (Lee 360). This quote relates to the incidents with Bob Ewell. Atticus sort of sticks up for him, giving him the benefit of the doubt, after attaching Jem and Scout. He tries to find the good in people.

In conclusion, Atticus Finch is in all a terrific person. Seeing he is a extensive father, spirited, and humble. Atticus is a beneficial character that Harper Lee has put together.
