Accounting Education: Reflection on Personal Internship Experience

Nowadays Accounting has become a degree and diploma level education. There are various global institutions which gives a nutritional education on Accounting and offer students degrees and other types of qualifications. This has been commercialized in the modern world. As I have attended the course of accounting education in this essay I will share my experience of gained knowledge during accounting internship, that experience which can be useful for anyone who is going to take the same program.  

At present at least a bachelor’s degree is required to work as an Accountant. I had my internship opportunity as a great chance for knowledge and professional growth. Most important part of all this is that I was asked to do necessary tasks and given not easy assignments in this experience. My responsibilities are data entry for patients financial, tracking information, preparing financial reports, invoices, handling insurance and dealing with sensitive or confidential information also with additional tasks. This being my first position in an office atmosphere, I didn’t know exactly what to expect. The environment here was quite relaxed, yet it taught me how to behave in the workplace. Simply working in the office and getting used to everything here has definitely prepared me for whatever my next position may be. Observing the everyday events has taught me more about teamwork, and how people can come together to get things done. Although sometimes I have to remind myself to use my inside voice, I feel I’ve adjusted to the office life relatively well.

My Accounting Internship Experience

The internships provide very useful work experience, but they are ever more towards job opportunity upon graduation, empowerment intern to expand the useful skills, to meeting point on field workings, to be well-known with the works and useful the challenges come across throughout on field. This program of accumulate information aids interns to get a picture of works and transform them to be the future perfect workers so interns need to make sure they are making the necessary effort and the right impression as an intern. Interns can be high school or college student or even adult interested in trying out a new career field as well as to get experience to decide if they have genuine interest in the field.

There are many skills and awareness that I have gained for the duration of my internship in this firm. One of the skills that I learnt is in qualities required for an accountant; I realize that after the internship help me to gain experience in future. Besides that, I am able to sharpen my skills in for preparing financial reports handling insurances and more about accounting office operations. Other than that, I am also able to enhance my communication skills as I had been trained on how to deal with client.

The main intention of the internship program is to empower students to put what is learned in the class into practice, help them to know what is to do and what is not to do in the right time, to conceptualize the truth on field work and aimed at students with company, institutions, and organizations by using useful skills in the country. And also facilitate students to be reasonable on the market by using convenient soft skills which are learned both in the classroom and on field, and it is an exceptional opportunity provide the understanding to the students that is more likely than student can obtain in the classroom.

Most companies that are significance functioning for don’t want to misuse their time with individuals who are not passionate in the effort they do. At the very least, research the company so you understand what you are getting yourself into. Adding personal touches when answering this question can go a long way: something along the lines of, “I realize this company’s mission because…” or “I believe in these aims because…” will make you more memorable. You clearly understand what things are vital to the company. After a short week in the office of training, interns are assigned to the field, and get started on real value-added assignments as soon as they arrive at their client location. The field experience helps interns to develop quickly and learn a great deal in an eight-week period. This learning can only help to form a more complete, more marketable you, so that you are more prepared to face any challenges the future brings.

Office manager assigns daily tasks for follow up of payments and check files of patient’s to clear and reconcile. Health care of patients working with insurance companies Cigna insurance and United Health care. Company has credit card facility to accommodate patients for their easy treatment and I was assigned to bill and their payments via credit/debit card by phone swipe. Prime dental data base system used for and access available for me as accountant to handle tasks given by Manager in management program Prime dental. I had learned that each code billed has a price in the office fee schedule which varies according to each dental location. Monthly financial reports for cash payments and insurance, also with helping front desk discussing financial report for established patient. And the environment helps to work with patient and fell comfortable. The organizational structure is established on these statements, and the function of each department and the duties of each employee are based upon fulfilling the purpose of these statements. An analysis of the problems and the related literature, conflicts resulting from differentiation and task relationships, and the operational plan of Hospital. It is responsible for providing leadership on global health matters, shaping the health research agenda, setting norms and standards, articulating evidence- based policy options, providing technical support to countries and monitoring and assessing health trends.

This job was a challenge for me right from the start, as I had no previous experience of this kind of work and it was very different to what I had been used to in college (in terms of the accounting modules I had). The main thing I learned from is that, in the workplace, nothing is going to be handed to you on a silver platter and you have to work particularly hard when working in an area that you have no previous experience in.

Under the supervision of our staff, the Accounting Intern can expect to participate in the preparation of journal entries and financial reports, analyze actual financial data, learn more about bookkeeping software, and assist with other accounting activities. You should be a motivated team player who can maintain efficiency and accuracy when multitasking. To be a strong candidate for an Accounting Internship, you should possess an understanding of accounting and financial principles and a positive attitude. You should be collaborative, trustworthy, receptive to feedback, and eager to learn.

I have been assigned for accounting work by completing financial reports and tasks fill in company’s detail is required. Then, proceed with recording all information from documents given by client. When recording is done, reconcile the account transactions that have been recorded to ask the client for the details of the transaction for the purpose of proper accounting record. Overall, knowledge in entry is vital for the purpose of proper accounting record. Besides, I have learnt that any information of the document that is vague or incomplete, record it.

Conclusion

In conclusion, this internship was a useful experience because the internship includes the plenty of questions to test knowledge and understanding and more detailed tasks to encourage the useful relevance of knowledge, study and judgments. The valuable experiences and knowledge that I have gained are really useful for my future career in accounting. Now I am trained to be multitasking and be confidence broaden my chances in future career.  The internship is a good sign to find out our strengths and weaknesses in useful soft skills. This helps us to describe skills and awareness that we have to improve in the coming time and this will award us the better future performance and enable us to be competitive on the market. This internship was a useful experience and it also allows us to understand the structure of the works and getting the partnership with the workers who have already the experience in their works and we saw what we have not seen in the classroom. In this internship we benefit the opportunity of building our future workings careers as well as getting insight into professional practice. I would recommend to companies providing internship program following: The internship period is not adequate so should extend the period of internship at least three months and; this will increase the effectiveness of internship. This will improve the expected outcome of internships activities and will help the internees to carry out their internship actions and determination the problems will come across during the internship period.
