The name of the novel I read for my book report is titled A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin. First, George started writing as a child and sold stories of monsters until one of his books gave a child from the neighborhood nightmares. Second, one of George’s failed books became a tv show when a producer thought it would be a great program and that series became the Twilight Zone. Later in life, George learned to play chess and started to play competitively to pay off his bills. even later, George wrote A Song of Fire and Ice in 1991 and later published in 1996. In addition, over 25 million copies sold. The show A Game of Thrones started on April 17, 2011, and ended on May 19, 2019.

A Game of Thrones is set in the fictional seven kingdoms of Westeros and Essos. The book is about the dynastic struggles among the realm's noble families for the Iron Throne, while other families fight for independence from it. The story takes place 297 AC in medieval times. The setting is significant because it shows us how people acted and demanded in medieval times. Plus how cruel and smart they were smart to keep themselves out of trouble. There are nine different Houses which are house Stark, Arryn, Greyjoy, Lannister, Targaryen, Baratheon, Martell, Tyrell, and Tully.

In this book, there are a series of main characters with great stories to tell. First, Jon Snow is the bastard son of Eddard Stark. He becomes a member of the night's watch. When he becomes a member he takes an oath to stay loyal to them and if he doesn’t he gets beheaded. Second, Daenerys Targaryen the wife of Khal Drogo the ruler of the Dothraki. She is married and pregnant at 14 years old. Arya Stark is the daughter of Ned and Catelyn Stark and trained by sit Bravoes in sword fighting. Cersei Lannister the wife to King Robert Baratheon the king of the seven kingdoms. Also the twin sister to Jamie Lannister and the elder of Tyrion Lannister. Bran Stark the son of Ned Stark who is now crippled from the waist down after falling from a tower. Khal Drogo the Khal of the Dothraki army and husband to Daenerys Targaryen. Eddard Stark the king of Winterfell and the king's right hand. Plus the husband to Catelyn Stark.

A couple of main events in the book A Game of Thrones. First, we meet the stark family on their way to go see Eddard Stark decapitate a deserter from the night's watch. He’s getting beheaded for deserting the quest he was on. After, we see the Starks going through the woods to find six dire wolf pups around their dead mother looking for food. Next, we see Bran climbing an old broken down tower he likes when he gets to the top to see all of Winterfell and then hears weird sounds coming from the top when the tower is in ruins and the stairs are destroyed. He then finds Cersei and her brother sir Jaime doing it then Cersei sees him and says “he’s going to tell everyone” and then Bran gets pushed by Jaime. on the way down all Bran hears is “what I do for love”. Next, Arya gets in trouble for her dire wolf biting Prince Joffrey so her wolf was sent to be killed but she let it go before they could catch it so ned killed Sansa's wolf himself. They said there dire wolves have not petted their predators. Finally, Daenerys is gifted dragon eggs as a wedding gift and learns they come from the moon, and they're really rare.

The part of the book I found to be most interesting is around page 57 when Tyrion talks to Jon and says “let me give you some counsel bastard” Lannister said “Never forget what you are, for surely the world will not. Make it your strength. Then it can never be your weakness. Armor yourself in it, and it will never be used to hurt you.' It shows that just because Tyrion is an imp doesn't mean he doesn't understand Jons issue. Tyrion before said he was always a disappointment to his father for being an imp showing that Tyrion is empathic. Plus Tyrion said he told Jon that all imp’s were considered bastards.

I really liked the book for its mystery, wars, secrets, and character challenges. First, I loved the book because it showed the struggle of Jon Snow for being in a full family of Stark's and for them to look at him like he's different just for having the last name, Snow. Then, It also shows how to take down a kingdom for your own enrichment. In Addition, how to commit treason to keep yourself safe from being killed. Finally, I can sort of relating to Jon snow for being left out and being invisible to most. Plus, I like Jon snow the most for his strengths, weakness, and battle of being a Snow instead of a Stark. This is what I like about the book A Game of Thrones.

Expert Review
The essay provides an overview of the novel "A Game of Thrones" by George R.R. Martin. It touches on the author's background, the setting of the story, main characters, and key events. The personal connection to the characters, especially Jon Snow, is evident. The essay captures the essence of the book's complexity and intrigue, with a focus on family dynamics and power struggles. While the essay demonstrates engagement with the material, it lacks deeper analysis and critical exploration of themes and literary techniques. The writing could benefit from clearer structure and smoother transitions between different aspects discussed.
