People from all around the world know well the traumatizing attack on Pearl Harbor, December 7, 1941. Watching Pearl Harbor movie shows the most devastating moment of when this attack happened on Pearl Harbor and what people went through on that day. The movie depicts this tragedy very masterfully and also adds more drama to it with the actors and storyline. Pearl harbor is a very classic, true story about romance that is also placed throughout the war that intricate everything. The Golden Rooster Award for translated Film, Pearl Harbor produced and directed by Michael Bay was made so precisely to make sure this event was directed right for everyone to see what happened in this tragic event.

This movie could have gone very good or very bad, thankfully Michael Bay made it a major hit! This movie’s main focus is to make sure they get every grain of detail of the Historic Japanese attack that Sunday morning. Whenever someone makes a movie based on a true story they have to make sure they get every detail correctly because this is a real event that happened and lots of people lost their lives for it so it is more than a movie it is to show people in this generation of what really happened December 7th, 1941. The characters in this movie our basically your American sweethearts but also has a romance twist to it. The romantic scenes also help for romance movie lovers that aren’t into lots of action movies. The main reason they chose to put a little bit of romance in this movie it to get all different people to watch this movie not just for the action but also the romance and for our historian or based on a true story people, this is the movie for you.

This website says There are too many generations of Americans who don’t know the Pearl Harbor story” which shows that this generation are too much involved in their electronics or social media that they don’t even know about these traumatizing events that happened in our history. This movie will help this generations to come of what truly happened at Pearl Harbor. Gorgon goes in great detail of how intense and scary these men and women went through on this Sunday morning. He also got exclusive interviews from Americans that survived Pearl Harbor which got a lot of information from these people that were right in it. Gordon says the people that he interviewed got very emotional throughout their conversations because they lost a lot of their friends that they called “family”. These people also have PTSD from that day because it was so traumatic to see and go through (Gordon.) He also interviewed Japanese leaders which he gets their perspective on this event they chose to encounter. The most impressive thing about this book is his extensive research he got throughout the years and put it into a whole book for everyone to hear about. The movie does a really good job showing the guts and gore of the attack scene, this scene was so important because this is the main part of Pearl harbor.

Also, the movie was 180 minutes long which is not your average length of a movie shows the people making this movie took their time and effort to make sure they got every single detail of this movie correctly because this traumatic event actually happened and lots of people lost their lives for it. Some people aren’t super fans of historical events that happened in our history because sometimes the movies can be somewhat boring but, in Peter’s eyes Pearl Harbor is not even close to being boring or too-long it was “Stupendous, life-enhancing disaster”. This movie is so important to our society because it was one of the biggest traumatizing events that toughed many lives and everyone should know what truly happened that day. The movie Pearl Harbor, was a devastating event that shocked the United States and this movie shows all the mortifying things that these women and men went through on that Sunday morning. This movie also brings in a twist of events that had to do with romance which you wouldn’t think of “romance” being in a traumatic, based on a true story movie. I believe that the director and producer placed a love story or so to say, “love triangle” with these actors to make it even more interesting for the viewers.

The director also did not want to just dwell on the pearl harbor attack so, he made it more unique by making the two main men actors fall in love with the same girl. They wanted to get all different genres to immerge into one movie so one, they can make a lot of profit off of it and two, to make so many different types of people that have a certain type of genre movie they like. This movie basically is three different type of genres in one movie: Action, romance and historical. This is amazing for everyone because you can learn about the traumatizing event that happened in the United States and also have your favorite type of genre in it as well! The objective for this research paper is to reveal that the Pearl Harbor movie is so important to our society and this generation due to lack of people knowing true events that happen in the united states, this movie can help people truly see and learn what happened on that shocking Sunday morning of 1941. One of the articles I found from a website says “There are too many generations of Americans who don’t know the Pearl Harbor story. He said, “This movie will help this generation and generations to come.” This shows that people really don’t know a lot about traumatizing events that happened throughout the decades but, for this generation you have to go from a different perspective to get their attention which the directors thought of a fantastic idea of how to get people to remember and learn about Pearl harbor, the Pearl Harbor Movie. For this generation, it is pretty obvious that people love electronics: computers, phones, television, video games and etc. What is the best way to get their attention?

Putting an historical event that is based on a true story in something they will watch is the perfect idea to show them real events through a movie. At the end of this movie they will not be watching it just for nothing, they will be taking some kind of bit of information to remember about Pearl Harbor at the end of this movie. The research finds that it for sure supports my argument that this generation are not fully aware of traumatizing events arounds us so that is why the director and producer had to put some kind of drama and romance throughout the movie so people would be intrigued thought-out the movie. Pearl Harbor was one of the most unexpected attacks in the United States. This attack happened December 7th, 1941 at 7: 55a.m, obviously nobody was expecting this because the current president at that time, Franklin D. Roosevelt thought he made an alliance or peace with the Japanese but evidently, he did not. When the attack on Pearl Harbor is shown in the film, the producer made sure to get every single bit of detail from that attack because this is the most important part of the movie and also does not want to leave anything out due to it being based on a true story and how there are people that went through this traumatizing event and want to make it as realistic to the actual attack as possible.

Going deeper in detail about the movie I am going to be talking about the main characters. Pearl Harbor is a very classic, true story about romance that is also placed throughout the war that intricate everything. How the beginning starts, is with best friends Rafe and Danny. Since they were little, they wanted to become Army Air Corps Pilots, so when they grew up and met this beautiful Navy nurse named Evelyn also. Rafe falls in love with her as soon as he sees her. As they started dating Rafe freely offers to fight in Britain while Evelyn and Danny got moved to Pearl Harbor. As Rafe is fighting and hoping that he makes it back alive to see his girl Evelyn and his best friend Danny, Rafe gets shot down and is reported that he got killed. As Evelyn and Danny hear the news they start leaning on each other and obviously the worst thing that could happen, happened. Evelyn and Danny start getting feelings for each other by grieving for someone they were both dearly close too. As Danny and Evelyn start getting serious, Rafe turns up alive and returns to Pearl harbor. When Rafe finds out about their relationship from their grief for him, the two former best friends turn into enemies because of their battle of love for Evelyn.

What makes this movie even more dramatic throughout this whole love triangle, Pearl Harbor is getting attacked! I think they put romance into this movie is to get more revenue because with just having a war movie without any other drama or romance in it than the director, Michael Bay will not get as much people if he just chose it to be a classic war movie with no drama or romance, he is trying to get as much people as possible to watch this movie. In my eyes, I think that was a very smart idea on Michael Bay’s part to not just have one genre in this movie to make more money but also to get this generation to learn some history by putting it in something they will watch; electronics. Pearl Harbor was one of the longest films, it was about three hours and four minutes long. The usual time for war movies is about two hours and twenty-five to forty-seven minutes long so this defiantly shows that Pearl Harbor did not want to miss any detail about this traumatizing event so they made it as long as they needed it to be due to getting get grain of detail about the attack and other drama that was happening in the movie.

Also, another very fascinating thing about this movie is the budget was about one hundred and forty million to make this film happen. The amount of money spent on this film and promotion roughly equaled the amount of damage caused in the actual attack. There are a lot of amazing things about this movie but one of my favorite facts that I have learned from research is the “Guinness Book of World Records” gave Pearl Harbor the movie with the most explosive used in a film. Of course, the Pearl Harbor attack in the movie was the most important thing in this movie so once again the producer had to make sure he did not leave anything out of the attack. I am going to go into detail about this attack in the movie.

This attack was filmed by fourteen different cameras and actually staged on real navy ships. The shots took at least seven months of coordination. “The charges were put on the real ships on plywood for protection, with seven-hundred sticks of dynamite, two-thousand feet of cord, and four-thousand gallons of gasoline used. The six hundred-foot ship explosions took a month and a half to rig (with five-hundred individual bombs on each boat). During the scene, over hundred extras were in the harbor, and six real planes had to fly past the ships. In total, the shots took seven months of coordination among every department on the film, the state of Hawaii, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the U.S. Navy to ensure everything went off without a hitch. In the end, the explosions themselves lasted only seven seconds, and comprised only twelve seconds of on-screen time.”-- This shows that they put so much detail and money into this scene because it is so important to not just the movie but also people that are Pearl Harbor veterans and show some respect on making the attack as a close as to the real one as possible so they do not offend anybody that went through this attack. Based on this film you could really compare a major attack that was very unexpected also which was 9/11.

An article I found starts with an interview with Professor John Dreifort that teaches at Wichita State University. He compares and differentiates two of the most national Tragedies that happened in the United States which were Pearl Harbor and 9/11. One of the similarities Joe talks about is both attacks were unprovoked which means the Japanese had no reason to be angry with the United States. Another similarity Joe goes into detail about is how after Pearl harbor it was pretty obvious that the Japanese did not like us and were up to something. So, the same thing happened to 9/11, we knew about the Japanese not liking us and had all the information but our intelligence-gathering organization did not connect the dots in time before the tragic events happened. As Joe says even though these were devastating events, it made us restructure the Department of Homeland Security and try their best to make sure a traumatizing event like this two won’t happen again. Some difference he mentions was that Pearl harbor was obviously targeted towards military men and women whereas 9/11 was targeted towards civilized people. Another difference was 9/11, the United States retaliated much quicker to get them back but for Pearl harbor it took us at least six months to be able to get an offensive against them. His article shows really good facts and evidence about each event.

Some movies came out based by 9/11 and that traumatizing day which were World Trade Center and September 11. The World Trade Center was about two port authority police officers become trapped under the rubble of the World Trade Center. The second movie September 11 was about the effects of the 9/11 terrorist attacks are told from different points of view around the world. These movies are all based on the 9/11 attack that day, the Pearl Harbor movie set a good tone for all other movies that were tragic attacks. Similarly, both of these tragic events are both educating people around the world and also educating the government on terrorist and war protocols so they know what to do when something like this happens again and also improve safety so, we do not lose any more lives due to not handling security or safety checks through airports which have gotten much better through the year due to these tragic events that have happened.

Some similarities from tragic events such as Pearl Harbor, Titanic and 9/11 all have museum that represent major tragedies in history and also to learn about them and what they went through. The Pearl Harbor museum is located in Honolulu, Hawaii where the attack happened. The museum contains a memorial of the USS Arizona which was a U.S battleship that sank during the Japanese attack on the naval base in Pearl harbor. The memorial is right above the sunken ship so you can see the ship right below you due to the memorial having glass floors for you to see though and they also let you watch a 23-minute documentary film on the history of politics, people and attack on Pearl Harbor. After watching the film vistitors are put on a 145 U.S passenger boat and are taken to the USS Arizona Memorial They also have an opening in the memorial to actually see how massive the ship was and to see that oil is still leaking from day it sunk. There are two titanic museums and one is in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee which is pretty close to where I live! I have been to this museum twice in my life and it is so fascinating! I hate to say it but I really did not know much about the titanic but after I finished the Titanic museum I knew so much more history and facts about the passengers and what they went through when the ship sunk.

The last museum or memorial I am going to be talking about is the 9/11 memorial in New York City. I have actually visited this memorial in 2014. Words cannot describe how amazing that memorial is, where the two World Trade Center towers that got hit by planes. In the replacement of the two buildings that got destroyed they are now lit up by lights and a big fountain. One of my favorite things about this memorial is all the people that lost their lives that day all their names were put all around the two fountains of where the two towers were. Visiting these museums makes me feel like I am back in the time period of when these tragic events happened and to get the feel of what they went through on that day. This shows that a lot of traumatizing and tragic events that were totally unexpected make a good movie and museums for people to learn about our history of the United States.

In conclusion, I think it is very important for society to learn about this tragic event and I also believe that the Pearl Harbor movie helps everyone learn about this event in history and also for entertainment. If society truly does like historical/war movies with some other kind of storyline rather than just a regular historical/war movie. This is very important to figure out because if we do not than people are paying a ton of money to make these films and do not event get good profit off it because they were not thinking about getting this generations attention by putting some other twists in the movie. If they do find more information about this problem than they will not be wasting a ton of money on a film people will not watch unless you really like historical/war movies without any other drama put into the storyline.

I know for sure the film companies would be very happy to make more money and not waste it on a movie that people around the United State will not watch. If readers can acknowledge that this is a pretty big issue for the film industry that they are losing money because of this, to my knowledge of this problem this needs to be fixed before the film industry loses any more money. I also think it is good to educate this generation about historical events that have happened in the United States and put it into something they love which is televisions screens because in today’s society television and electronics are very popular so why not educate people on historic events and also make money at the same time.
