Illegal Immigrants Seeking New Opportunities in US
According to Webster, immigration is “when someone travels into a country for the purpose of permanent residence there” (“Immigration”). Immigration is not new to the United States of America, it has been happening since the beginning of times. Some immigrants travel to this country for better opportunities, while others come to get the United States’ government’s money. The United States are overcoming situations with the DACA, illegal immigrants coming to the country, and also the Dreamers.
DACA stands for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. The DACA program provides a pardon to illegal, undocumented immigrants who came to the United States as a child (Schallom). The program was founded by former President Barack Obama to allow illegal immigrants who came to the country as minors a protection of not getting deported (Schallom). To be able to apple for the DACA program, you must be under 31 on June 15, 2012, came to the United States of America before turning 16 years old and lived in the country since June 15, 2007 without moving out.
Some DACA program members are not always good. Two recipients were arrested in San Diego, California for a suspicion of human smuggling. The suspicion did not only happen once but more than once. According to Fox News, “The San Diego Union Tribune reported Monday that one of the men was in the country under the program and the other’s program has expired”. When the Border Agents pulled over the vehicle what was suspected, two illegal Mexican Nationals were being smuggled.
Many people in the United States are hoping President Donald J. Trump goes through with his immigration policy. Many of them are hoping he ends illegal immigration. The mother of a police officer, who was killed by an illegal immigrant, stated, “she is hopeful that President Donald J. Trump will follow through on his promise to crack down on illegal immigration” (“ ‘Angel Mom’: Dems Must Stop Protecting DREAMers & Stand Up for Americans”). According to a Fox News Insider, Mary Ann Mendoza stated, “They do commit crimes, they don't all graduate from high school, they're not all contributing members of society and to lie to the American public to promote an agenda is just not beneficial to this country at all.” Parents and citizens of the United States are afraid that their children or even they will return home one day. Illegal Aliens are committing crimes on a daily basis in this country. Immigration has been a concern in our country for centuries; it is not a recent issue. Immigration has become a bigger issue not only for the United States, but a worldwide issue. Like century old immigration, modern day immigration has increased because of terrorism; religious persecutions by terrorist, political reasons, and some immigrants are looking for a better life for their families. Unfortunately, not everyone that immigrates into the country are the best type of people.
It is true that many immigrants that do come into United States are hard working individuals that want to make an honest living; but many others are criminals that leave their country to avoid prison time and cross the boarders to continue committing crimes in the U.S. President Donald J. Trump has vowed since his campaign, to build a wall along the Mexican border. Many people are criticizing him, but fail to realize that the wall actually already exist, it is just poorly built and it has not prevented immigrants from crossing the border or as others say, “jumping the wall”.
It is a known fact that our immigration system has been broken for years. The United States has immigrants living in the country making an honest living for years, but never became citizens of the U.S. whether out of fear or lack of knowledge. In a recent report by Fox News, the Campos family illegally came to the US from Mexico over 30 years ago and settled in New Jersey where their three kids were born (“Couple deported to Mexico”). Unfortunate for the Campos family, because they never obtained work visas or became legal citizens they were recently deported back to Mexico and were separated from their kids. Critics are claiming that President Trump wants to throw out all illegal immigrants whether they are criminals or not. The reality is that President Trump wants tougher immigration laws to protect the American people and at the same time give the illegal immigrants the opportunity to become legal citizens of the United States and the kids that were brought into this country by their parents in search of a better future for them to be able to stay. What the President is asking for is a process where everyone that comes into this country is screened and processed and will be able to contribute to the country instead of becoming a criminal or a leach living off the taxpayers money.
Not every immigrant that has crossed the Mexican border is like the Campos family. Many are criminals that try to avoid jail time in their country or gang members that are trying to expand their gang in the U.S. These criminals did not just commit crimes in Mexico or San Salvador; they are committing the same crimes or worse in our country. For example, the Kate Steinle murder case; Jose Inez Garcia, an illegal immigrant that was deported six times and returned to the U.S. Inez Garcia had just completed a federal prison sentence of 20 years for illegally re-entering into the US, and was transferred to San Francisco to face another charge for selling marijuana when he fatally shot Kate.
President Trump was disappointed when Garcia was found innocent of the murder and commented on his Twitter account, “The Kate Steinle’s killer came back and back over the weakly protected Obama boarder, always committing crimes and being violent, and yet this info was not used in court. His exoneration is a complete travesty of justice. BUILD THE WALL!” Like Garcia, there is a gang called the MS-13 gang who has committed horrifying crimes and many continue to cross the border as unaccompanied minors. These gang members have taken over peaceful neighborhoods and turned them into killing fields. President Trump recently commented in a visit to Brentwood that he vowed to crush MS-13 while pledging a tough approach on immigration. “They have transformed peaceful parks and beautiful quiet neighborhoods into blood-stained killing fields.” As soon as the wall is built, it will protect the Americans and everyone living in the United States of America.
People seem to think that the wall that will be built along the Mexican border is only for Mexicans. Those who think that are absolutely wrong. The wall will prevent Central and South Americans from coming into the United States illegally. United States Border Patrol busts illegal aliens from entering this country on a daily basis. There were three huge illegal human smuggling from Mexico and Central America who were busted near the Mexican Border.
One of the incidents was in southern California were a truck as painted to represent UPS but was really used to smuggle 5 children and 72 adults (Sang). The other incident was in Laredo, Texas where 13 children and 63 adults were being smuggled from Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Mexico (Sang). The last bust so far was also in Laredo, Texas where border patrol agents stopped a tractor-trailer with 29 illegal aliens inside ready to hide in the United States and live off the country’s taxes (Sang). It was stated that each person was about $3,000 to smuggle him or her into the U.S. without being detected (Sang). A number of people who have tried to smuggle into the country have died behind the trucks because of the temperature and/or health issues (Sang). A man from Clearwater, Florida who was a truck driver pleads guilty to human smuggling through the Mexican Border (Sang).
Another tunnel was found by Border Patrol agents in El Paso, Texas (Bogan). The tunnel is about 75 feet long that ends at the Rio Grande River. Border Patrol agents believe that this tunnel has been around for decades (Bogan). The tunnel was found when employees of the Texas Department of Transportations were building around downtown and noticed a “cave in”(Bogan).“Remediation efforts are already under way, which include filling the tunnel with concrete. At this time we are working with federal, state and local partners in order to determine the purpose of this makeshift structure,” said Aaron Hull, chief patrol agent of the U.S. Border Patrol, El Paso Sector.” (Bogan).
Immigration a century old problem is still a problem today. Whether in the United States or abroad, immigrants are coming into the country to build better lives for themselves and their families, or escape religious prosecutions, terrorism or jail time. Whatever the reason maybe, these immigrants must do so in a legal manner. If they decide to become part of a new country because they believe it is the best opportunity for them, then they must abide by the countries immigration rules and become legal and contributing citizens. Many immigrants that came into this country and call it home, have made contributions to many neighborhoods and have managed to make it their home and have become productive citizens if the US. Any individual, who is a criminal and comes into the country illegally, should be deported back to their country. Politicians in this country need to look back at all their speeches and realize that everything that they are fighting President Donald J. Trump on, not too long ago they were standing in front of a TV/camera stating that all illegal immigrants needed to be deported. Enough is Enough, the American people work very hard and pay taxes for some illegal immigrant to live off their money. Either you live by our rules, or get out.
