Art is a reflection of your thinking, your ideas, and your surroundings, the artist adopts his or her surroundings and then by using their imagination, outside thinking and their perspective they present a new face of it in front of the world. Art and creativity is a key theme of the essay as well as the relationship between culture and creativity. Creativity consists both of art and culture and here we will understand how they correlate with each other.
Culture plays a vital role in shaping one’s personality, one being, surrounding and belives. 'Culture encompasses religion, food, what we wear, how we wear it, our language, marriage, music, what we believe is right or wrong, how we sit at the table, how we greet visitors, how we behave with loved ones, and a million other things,' Cristina De Rossi, an anthropologist at Barnet and Southgate College in London. Any art form is a great way of storing once cultural beliefs, values and pass it to the next generation or even all around the globe. Writers, filmmaker makers, painters, musician, and many others reflect the past they have lived, the surrounding they have seen the society they are brought up. An example of this is at the time of emperor Akbar a Punjabi writer Damodar Das Arora wrote an epic masterpiece called Heer Ranjha. This is a tragic story of two lovers who loved each so much that they died for it, it is said that Damodar witness this immortal love story and using the power of his words he brought is in front of the world. Any artist needs to understand its culture and the culture of others to expand his/her room of creativity.
Creativity! What is this? Creativity is when you take something which already exists in this world like a situation around you, an idea you have or your imagination of creating your kingdom on moon, you just take that idea give it a new dimension add some color of your thoughts and then give it a life, make it real. Being creative does not means that you have to Albert Einstein or Steve jobs, a 5-year-old is as creative as them, as per one research by George Land’s Creativity Test, where he examines 1600 kids of the age group of 3 till 5 years old giving them the same assessment which he designed for NASA and the result was 98% success rate, so creativity can be done at any age. Jimi Hendrix who is known as the best guitarist ever lived is a great example of who culture and creativity influence and artist, he was an African American, from a middle-class African American family, his mother left when he was young bourn up listening to blues this was his surrounding. He once said 'I imagine what would be the sound of space be like' and as he faced the hardship as an African American and dreamed about being free and space he took blues music and created the sound of space according to him and give the world songs like Hey Joe and Voodoo Childe.
The relationships between creativity and culture have always been questioned. How significant is creativity to culture? Because the material used for the emergence of the new belongs rather than the self to the ordinary world. As a result, the creations are more remarkable, with more interaction with cultural elements. As a conclusion I want to finish with this quote: “Eminent are those creators who make good use of social and cultural instruments and most best suit their personal and economic standards in their time.”
