Book Review Of Samyann’s Yesterday: A Romance Story With Philosophical Subtext
Samyann’s Yesterday is a fiction book on reincarnation spiced with romance. The story is about a young lady, Amanda, who found love gain when she purchased a mysterious clock with captivating angels bells.
The Clock and the major characters, Amanda Parker and Mark Callahan became connected from past to present, after it survived centuries of war and fire outbreaks. The novel combined true history, romance and mindfulness to create a captivating classic.
Samyann, the author of Yesterday, is a Chicago native who loves the rich heritage of her city. She has creatively documented in the book St. Michael’s Clock history during the 1871 great Chicago fire. The reincarnation story bares her curiosities and speculations about the afterlife.
The story unfolded on a busy bright morning as Amanda Parker walked a Chicago street. She admired two mounted policemen and thought, 'What is it about a man on a horse that makes him extraordinary?' - Yesterday's memories? Suddenly, an overhead train wheeled off its track, sending its cars crashing onto the streets and into buildings. Transfixed, she watched one of the policemen go down and lie unconscious.
She rushed to the scene and saved Mark’s life within inches of losing hers. Later, the two seem to have known each other in another life. How is that possible? They had only seen each for the first time at the accident scene. Amanda needed answers. She wouldn’t give the romance a chance until she finds out the nature of their relationship in another life. Astral regression provided answers, but was she truly Bonnie Lexington?
This story is engaging and quite absorbing. It will be a good read for people on holiday rendezvous, people that want to get away from encumbering realities.
The two different settings for this story were tasteful and detailed, I liked the way they made me feel the nuances in the story - as if I was physically present on the scene. However, I don’t believe reincarnation is possible for a rational person that attained accountability age. A grown-up is subject to laws in the earth and beyond. Reincarnation may be possible for children though.
Human mindsets have similitudes (similar designated modes). For this reason Bonnie’s experiences could have been impressed on Amanda’s subconscious mind in the regression. When two persons define a similitude, their lives' experiences will be similar but not exact.
I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. I would have rated it 3.5 out of 4 stars, if it was possible; because it was well structured and described.
In summary, St. Michael's angels bells took the centre stage in Yesterday's plot as did the major characters, Amanda and Mark. The clock became so connected with man and woman that it's chimes fostered surreal and enchanted magnetism on them. Samyann tactically highlighted astral regression in the book as Mary, a psychotherapist, helped Amanda and Mark peek into their past-lives experiences. The technique though controversial appeared plausible.
This book described well, a medieval America during the war torn 18th century. It reflected that back then, life was precarious, and more so, to African Americans.
